Well, wonder no more. MrEric Almighty and PhilTheFilipino have got you covered, and this time the dynamic duo is joined by Jay, the Urban Weirdo with an eye for the eccentric, and Sophie, whose delightful insights are the cherry on top of our entertainment sundae. They're here to dissect the latest shifts in the industry, from the high seas of Moana's next adventure to the dino-sized developments in the Jurassic World saga.

Strap in for an episode that takes you through a labyrinth of pop culture musings, from the rumors of Henry Cavill's Marvel debut to a gleeful debate on the fortunes of our favorite film and TV franchises. We're not just throwing opinions around; we're building a pop culture playground where every twist and turn is an invitation to explore the "what-ifs" and "why-nots" of the entertainment universe. So, if the thought of Cavill as Dr. Doom gives you the chills or the mere mention of a new theme park land has you on the edge of your seat, you're in the right place.

The fun doesn't stop at speculation and spirited discussion; we're turning up the heat with a virtual Jeopardy game night that pits our knowledge of Marvel, DC, anime, and Disney against one another. Speaker 2:

Welcome to your go-to source for entertainment. Wait for it.

Speaker 3:

Gaming. Wait for it, anime.

Speaker 2:

Plus Ultra. Mr Eric Almighty and Phil the Filipino. Yeah, they've got you covered and all you gotta do is wait for it.

Speaker 4:

This is the Wait for it podcast. Hey, everyone, welcome back to the Wait for it podcast. I am your co-host, phil Smith, aka Phil the Filipino, and joining me, as always, is your other co-host, mr Eric Almighty. And Eric, we are here with the February edition of what Did I Miss, our monthly bonus episode where we get together, talk some pop culture news and then play some games with some really cool people, and we have all of that and much more for the February edition. Super excited to bring in our guests as we continue to expand our library of friends that we have come in and just have a good time with us, and I think it's gonna be a really great episode and I'm excited for everybody, or to reintroduce everybody to our guests today.

Speaker 1:

You know, phil, sometimes you come up with some really good ideas. I gotta say I was a little hesitant when we reintroduced this series for the third time it's newest format but it was third time's a charm. Third decision so far you know a couple episodes in Definitely gonna be your best decision this month because you saw Madam Web, so definitely excited for this to be way better than that.

Speaker 4:

Man, I didn't know that we were gonna discuss that so early. I'm still kind of traumatized. I'm still 24 hours, less than 24 hours removed from that experience. So if you guys want to discuss it, we can.

Speaker 1:

I mean, we can go right into it. It might be the second worst decision you've made, though. Phil, I was curious. You did post that Spider-Man DLC like the skin TikTok. Did you know that? Oh yeah, and it's a charity skin.

Speaker 4:

You didn't know that those were charity skins, I didn't know. Well, listen here also, the point of charity is to raise money. So like I don't know what they were thinking, so that was still a mistake on there.

Speaker 1:

Alright, so second worst decision, but I think the best decision we've made is the guess that we brought on for this month.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, absolutely. We have a couple of returning guests here and super happy to have them on returning. And you know just people we've gotten to know Well, one we've known for a very long time and one we met very recently. And you know, again, this series is all about bringing people together and just having a good time. So we want to bring in our urban weirdo, jay, as well as Supen and Jaha, sophie. Sophie, we'll start with you first. Welcome back. Super glad to have you back on. I know we've kind of tried to get you back on here and there and just scheduling issues with both of us have gotten in the way, but it's super good to have you here tonight. How are you doing today?

Speaker 2:

I'm doing great. I'm so glad to be back and to see you guys again and get to be on the show, and it's just always such a fun time that I'm really looking forward to it Absolutely.

Speaker 4:

And we can't wait to see you a collective con here in about a month and hang out and have some more fun at this conventions we love going to, so we'll touch on that again in a moment. And also Jay the, like I said, the local urban weirdo. Jay, welcome back. How are you doing this evening?

Speaker 3:

I'm doing all right, can't complain too much. I actually don't know either of these guys. They gave me five bucks like 10 minutes ago to jump on.

Speaker 1:

We went to lunch together. You want asshole, you want?

Speaker 4:

You went through like through a lot of effort, for five dollars, like that's your standards.

Speaker 3:

It's a it's a slow night, you know. I got nothing going on. Yeah, no, we did have a lovely lunch.

Speaker 4:

T-shirt sales are rough.

Speaker 1:

You have really nice t-shirts, because I almost just ripped it right off.

Speaker 4:

I believe we don't. Yeah, well, yeah, this is going to be a whole lot of fun Again. If you guys are brand new to our bonus episodes, if you don't know how. What did I miss works again. Everybody has. Everybody here has selected a pop culture story from the previous month and then at the end we will play a game that I have concocted. Sometimes it's a lot of fun, sometimes it's very devious. We'll see which route I went with this month, but it usually ends up being a lot of fun either way. So, eric, anything else you want to mention, or ask our guests before we get started and we'll just jump right into the stories. And again, I think, the most anticipated portion of what did I miss, which is the return of the wheel.

Speaker 1:

We absolutely need to get this wheel going, get the energy flowing, so I don't want to wait any longer. Phil, let's bring out that wheel.

Speaker 4:

All right. Well, while I do that, eric, do you want to let our guests know how the wheel works? Oh, you know what? There is a tab that says also share tab audio. That's why it played the music, yeah.

Speaker 1:

So now, now we know guys. Well, yeah, I'm seeing as having the pre-show of Patreon you explained how to use the wheel. I feel like this should be really easy now. So if you Jay, when we count down we're going to count down three, two, one after one you say spin that wheel. So let's get ready. In that cadence, in that cadence, in that cadence.

Speaker 1:

Dude, you want to spin that wheel and it sometimes goes well, it sometimes doesn't. So when you guys are ready, let's bring it back. Get ready, I'm going to count down and then we're all going to do it. Three Hold on Jay, is a question. Hold on Jay, is his hand raised? Yeah, question Jay, go for it.

Speaker 3:

Can I unmute myself now? Yes, we're about to say You're good, you're good.

Speaker 4:

Yeah Okay, cool, yeah, yeah Okay.

Speaker 1:

Ready.

Speaker 4:

All right, Eric here we go.

Speaker 1:

I really did I really did.

Speaker 3:

I really did. I'm sorry. Go ahead, all right.

Speaker 4:

Show it off the extra features Three two, one Spin Spin.

Speaker 3:

Okay, we were doing so well.

Speaker 4:

I really thought we had it. I wanted to present, thought that we had it. Oh, my God, all right.

Speaker 1:

There we go. There's the super loud applause. Is this still loud? Hello, hello.

Speaker 4:

All right. Well, next time I'll just turn the audio off. It's fine, now we know.

Speaker 2:

I kind of like it. I kind of like it, keep it up, I don't, god.

Speaker 4:

All right, well, we are off to a great start, but I will go ahead and go first. And this came from very early February and this was some news that was making the rounds, and it was that Moana 2, surprisingly will be a full on film coming out later this year. It was supposed to be a Disney plus series, but it will now be hitting theaters instead. In 2020, during the peak of entertainment, the industry's love affair was streaming. I totally messed up the beginning of this paragraph. I'm going to start off. In 2020, during the peak of the entertainment, industry's love affair was streaming.

Speaker 4:

A follow up to Disney's animated hit Moana was destined to become a television series for Disney plus, but, like the movies, shape shifting Demigod Maui, who traverses the seven seas with the Polynesian warrior, the project has transformed into something entirely new. In a surprise move, the follow up to Moana has been retooled into a feature film which is set to debut in theaters on November 27. It's a boon for cinemas after last summer's strikes for studios to postpone plenty of blockbusters to 2025 and beyond. It also signals Disney's renewed excitement for the big screen at a time when Hollywood has started to prefer the economics of selling movie tickets to a business model that was all about trying to steal. Netflix's thunder, moana 2 joins the studio's upcoming Alien spin off, romulus and 2022's horror films Barbarian, as well as Paramount's Mean Girls Movie, musical and Psychological Thriller Smile as projects that were commissioned for streaming but ultimately scored exclusive theatrical releases. After much trial and error, traditional studios and sub streamers have mainly deduced that the best financial value is found in releasing films exclusively in theaters. There's also some other information here as far as the returning voice actors. So we will get the rock, we will get Ali Kavalo.

Speaker 4:

One of the concerning things, eric, that we definitely talked about is that Lin-Manuel Miranda will not be returning to coin the songs for the show. So essentially, they turned this into what was going to be, I don't know, an 8 to 12 episode run into a film. Now, that could be something that could give us something really, really special, or it could be something that kind of seems half baked. So I want to discuss that with you guys. Sophie, you know, last time we got to speak with you, you were talking about some awesome work you got to do at Disney World, which was so cool to hear about. So I want to throw it to you because I know you were all Disney fans, but I want to throw this to you first. What do you think about the sequel to Moana 2 and do you have any concerns about how it was originally supposed to be a TV show?

Speaker 2:

Oh yeah, thank you for tossing it to me. Yeah, I would consider myself pretty well versed with Disney stuff and like in different facets of the company. And, like you said, for those who haven't met me or introduced like know me yet, I work for the theme entertainment industry, so I do work a lot with theme parks and I'm very familiar with like that kind of stuff. So you kind of notice at least I've noticed, I'm sure, most people.

Speaker 2:

It's not an unpopular opinion now to say that Disney as a company has changed a lot and that they're kind of like standard of quality maybe in some ways has shifted, or like they're trying a lot a lot of times, and that goes into like Star Wars, marvel, those are all different big conversations we could have. But I feel like they are trying to appeal to so many different people, like as a general audience, that they're kind of like missing their target audience or they're kind of losing the plot, for a better way to say it. So in general, it's kind of like you see there sometimes like they're declined with like some of the Disney plus series or like any kind of sequel that they've been doing or the fact that they're running a Toy Story 5 and all these like extra sequels that will never end, stuff like that. So I think there's a general quality concern to begin with, but I think the fact that it's was made for one media and then adapted to another just to it kind of seems like half hazard. That is very concerning.

Speaker 2:

And then on top of that, like you said, like the you know the music, original music, writers, they you kind of see like already a lot of issues with like something like like Wish, which was supposed to be this big, and Moana is a big franchise. So I know that a lot of it's they're probably banking on the fact that people are going to go see it anyway, but even with for like their 100 anniversary movie like Wish, that was not received very well either, like as a movie and then also is like a musical. So I am the short version of everything I just said is I am very concerned.

Speaker 4:

No, you make a lot of good points and especially when, of course, like you said, it was made for another medium, what gets left on the cutting room floor, they're not going to release a, you know, a six hour film in theaters, you know, or split this up hopefully not into another two movies. I don't know, jay, what do you think? You know, as we are you, me and Eric also you know parents in the room we're going to be there, going to go see it, but you know, what do you think when it comes to Moana too, and again, like I said, it, you know, meant being meant for something else and now they're going to shoehorn it in theaters?

Speaker 3:

Yeah, I mean I definitely agree with what she said. I didn't really think of that aspect of how they're going to try and shift it from, you know, a show mindset back to into a movie mindset. You know a lot will get lost in translation, but, like you said also, you know we have, we have kids. My oldest, we grew up with Moana, you know that was our thing. So then the storge of it, I really feel, is definitely going to pull me in. But now I'm scared because I'm hoping too much isn't going to be lost in the sauce. You know what I mean. I mean, overall, I'm going to watch it. I'm going to probably enjoy it. Well, I enjoyed as much as the first one, probably not, but I'm going to go in hopeful.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, and back in our day. I mean, this would just be released straight to DVD and called like Moana 2 and it would be voiced by. Let's see who would voice Maui. It would be man. I'm trying to think of somebody who's like a D list celebrity that would voice Maui.

Speaker 1:

Rip off of the rock. I'm going to say who's a fake rock.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, that's what I was saying. No, he's a fake rock.

Speaker 4:

Who would that be?

Speaker 1:

Apparently LA Night. So that's, there's that.

Speaker 4:

Oh, okay, Well, that's no, not him.

Speaker 1:

Maybe Vin Diesel would do it, I don't know. That'd be an interesting take.

Speaker 4:

Maybe, like early on, Vin Diesel, I don't know. But yeah, Eric, this again came out of nowhere. Like I said, we were like we were just sitting here minding our own business and then a Maui 2 teaser trailer came out. So you know, just walk us through your emotions.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, no, I mean Disney needs to get some good graces up. It feels like they had a really tough year. I feel like this is a little bit of a panic move. I don't think it has the capability of being better than the first one, only because I think the first one I don't want to say overperformed, but like looking back on it, I think it kind of did Like everybody loves that movie and I don't think people expected that when it first came out. I think they knew they'd have an audience. But it's like one of their big like attractions as far as their characters, their world. So I can understand why we're going back. I'd much rather go back to the world of Moana than to keep doing frozen movies. So you know, I'd prefer that let's keep going Moana over frozen, but we'll see what happens.

Speaker 4:

That just seems like a personal attack, because you hate frozen.

Speaker 1:

You didn't, we weren't even talking about frozen.

Speaker 4:

You just wanted to bring it up.

Speaker 1:

I do, I do. I hate that movie both of them, but it's beside the point. It's beside the point. I'm excited to see what happens. I'm going to go along for the ride, but I'm cautiously going to reserve my feelings on it until I see it, because I really don't think I'm excited. But I'm also not like against it. Like I just said, I'd much rather see this film than a couple of their other properties.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, and I'm just very concerned again about the music. I can't remember who they have tied to doing the music in this in the second film, but it didn't like excite me in any way because, again, the music is such a integral part of the first film and they really captured that magic. And, like you said, moana is a top five Disney film for me, so it's one of my favorites of all time, for sure. So we'll see what they do Again. It's interesting time. Go ahead, sophie.

Speaker 2:

Oh no, I just wanted to jump in before we did spin the wheel again before that, before we leave the topic. But just a quick side note that I remember reading about was something again like kind of using wish as an example. I read somewhere that they actually the reason why the music started to be so different is because they moved from musical theater, like people, like writers, to like pop artists, writers. So it's like it's a totally different flavor of like and people don't like it, at least so far from what I've seen. So it's interesting. I hope that Moana is spared from that and that it's still just as fun as the original. Again, like Eric, I agree, like saying it's a panic move, but I feel like there's still, because it's a just wrong property. I feel like there's still potential for it to work out. So we'll see.

Speaker 1:

That's a good call out, though, because it was Julia Michaels that that was one of the main like forces behind Wish's music, and it definitely did have a pop feel. I mean listen, nobody that does musical theater or arts would ever make a song like I'm a star and that that song is atrocious.

Speaker 4:

I enjoy that song. I like that song. I will die on the I'm a star.

Speaker 1:

You die on that I will.

Speaker 4:

I will you die on that? I will. I will. Until I can prove that Leslie Odom is see, odom Jr is secretly in it. I will die on that. So it's so strange too, with them going like the pop route because Ariana DeBose was their main character. Like you think, you'd lean into musical theater when you have, like, one of the biggest stars in musical theater as your lead character. So very, very interesting move. So, all right, well, let's move into our next story here and we're going to bring back the wheel. I'm going to mute, so so. So the consensus is keep the keep the applause.

Speaker 1:

I think it's so overwhelming we got to go with it.

Speaker 3:

All right.

Speaker 4:

All right.

Speaker 3:

All right.

Speaker 4:

Eric count is down, all right, jay.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, jay, we did our first one, count it down three, two, one, spin that wheel. All right, ready. Three, two, one, spin Spin.

Speaker 3:

Wheel Wheel. That was pretty good, that wasn't bad. We're going to mask you.

Speaker 4:

Okay, here comes the applause.

Speaker 3:

Did it even spin.

Speaker 4:

It did, yeah, I did. Oh, it didn't spin for you.

Speaker 1:

That's okay. Well, in post it'll look really late. Yeah, it'll look really good in post. All right, this happens. I feel like.

Speaker 4:

This keeps happening every month. Yeah, we're me and Eric go first. All right, Eric, what you got? What did I miss? February 2024?.

Speaker 1:

All right, so I'm going to go with a story I don't know that either of you would have brought. I've got a tie between two, so I'll save the other one for my honorable mentions at the end. So, phil, this is obviously a story tied closely to you. We've talked a little bit casually about the Jurassic World movie being announced Huge, huge franchise, and they obviously announced the film for a 2025 release date.

Speaker 1:

Initially they had a director, but there was obviously disagreements there creatively, so he dropped out, and now coming into the frame is Gareth Edwards, who, if you don't know, directed films like Rogue One, the initial Godzilla when it came to the current Monsterverse, and recently the creator. So Gareth Edwards is on board. He's a very interesting filmmaker, but realistically, it looks like, based off of all the reports, there's a lot of fast tracking for this movie and I'm just kind of curious how everybody feels. Phil, I'll throw it to you as the resident Jurassic Park, jurassic World aficionado how do you feel, just in general, about this? When we last spoke publicly about this, you and me both agreed they needed to take a break. They are, in fact, not taking a break. So how is all of this, from the director announcement all the way to the fact that they're just going to continue making these films. How are you taking that news and what are you looking forward to out of another Jurassic World film?

Speaker 4:

Jurassic 7 coming out so quickly. It's like that friend that gets in a new relationship and then they move in together way too quickly. That's what's happening with Jurassic. I love the pick of Gareth Edwards. I love Godzilla 2014. Obviously, rogue One is my favorite Star Wars movie and I'm not apologizing for saying that it is my favorite Star Wars film. And, eric, I think you saw the creator and you had like it was like a middling film. I think it's not a bad movie. From what I heard, I just haven't seen it, but I love the choice.

Speaker 4:

I think, if they are going to, if it kind of like has the same feel of Godzilla 2014, I'd be pretty happy with that. But, yeah, the fact that they had already given us a release date but had not picked a director, that's backwards. Like we don't even know who's going to be in the cast, we don't know the name of the film, we don't know any of that stuff. But every time we talk about this, it all just comes down to selling merchandise. Jurassic is going to push toys. It's going. They're going to fly off the market.

Speaker 4:

Jay, I'm sure that's something you can speak to. Like, these Jurassic toys on the resale market go for insane numbers. It's crazy. So that's what it really comes down to, which is a bummer, like I mean. I really I'm excited. Obviously I'll be in there day one. I'll consume all the media, I will be cautiously optimistic, but yeah, I mean they're doing all of this in reverse. It's like way too soon for us to return to the franchise, and again picking the director after you would announce the film just seems very strange. Yeah.

Speaker 1:

And it should be noticed as well that there is apparently. The rumor is that the producers of the film are going to wield a stronger hand after Dominion and everything that happened with that film. So I think, stylistically, gareth Edwards brings a lot to the table. But I kind of on a simpler note, jay, sophie, just because I'm not sure how much you guys are into that Jurassic Park vibe. So I'm going to throw it to Jay first and then Sophie, just from a simplistic standpoint if you are a fan, what do you need to see? And if you're not, what do you need to see to get interested? Is there anything that this franchise, this longstanding franchise, can do at this point that would get you on board? So again, jay, whether or not you're a fan, what do you need to see out of this next film, or have we pretty much just completely passed that train for you?

Speaker 3:

Yeah, I lost a desire to really dig deep into the Jurassic Park world at whatever you want to call it, years ago. You know my favorite to this day is still. The second one was that Lost World A hot take. That was my favorite one to this day. And you know the third one was fine. And then when they came back with the newer line of them, what was that world? I believe I was okay with that one. But then they just kind of felt the same, like the story was, it was there, but it was like I just felt like I was watching the same movie. With the last two that came out, like I was like, okay, cool, you know I could. It was on. We kind of stopped watching it for a little while because the kids and I were watching it, you know, and then we had to do something. It was like almost a week before they even asked to watch it again. So even the kids who loved them, loved dinosaurs, they were like what, watch them when?

Speaker 1:

we watched it. What do you mean, jay? The last one had bugs, a lot of bugs.

Speaker 4:

So many bugs Like what was that you?

Speaker 3:

know, I mean, I feel like I really don't know what it would take to get me back. It's very, it's too exciting for me. You know I don't know what other words to use Like what's another movie, just when there's like a lot of unnecessary just being thrown at your face. You know, I want to get back to the basics. I want dinosaurs. I want some basic dinosaurs bringing me some basic theater. Don't try and make it a global scale. You know, I just if I saw T-Rex, I just need to worry about that T-Rex in front of me. I don't, you know, I don't know.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, that's understandable. And, jay, just out of curiosity, because obviously you have kids, love dinosaurs, love that franchise, they're somewhat interested. Have you ever shown them or have considered watching Camp Cretaceous with them?

Speaker 3:

Youngest loves it Okay good. Loves it, hands down. She is a super fan. So, yeah, yeah, yeah, there we go, there we go. That's legit.

Speaker 1:

They got some ups and downs, but mostly ups, so super exciting to hear that. Sophie, let's throw it to you as well that same exact question. If you're currently a fan, now you know what do you need to see to continue to be excited. And if you're kind of removed from it, what do they need to do, or can they do anything to kind of bring you on board?

Speaker 2:

Yeah, so that's a great question. I don't consider myself like a huge fan. I'm familiar, of course, with the property and you know I love, like the well, the Jurassic Park movies, at least Like I'm very familiar with those and I, you know I had a little bit more time to think about my answer and I think what would I'm personally compelled by, like James.

Speaker 1:

What happened? Oh, my God.

Speaker 4:

He did like a thumbs down on accident and it did a thumbs down.

Speaker 1:

That's so funny, that is rude.

Speaker 2:

He, jay, does not agree with me and I don't know, and he hasn't even started.

Speaker 4:

I know, I know.

Speaker 2:

Um, no, so I think I think that, um, just like thinking about it that way, I think what made like the first Jurassic Park, for example, really iconic besides, of course, the dinosaurs was like the cast of characters, and people still like cosplay them or, unlike you know, they reminisce very strongly with those. So for me and for, like, I think, for people, what would kind of set it apart? I think you know I agree with Jay saying like, at least from an outside perspective, it seems like they all mesh together, like I could not tell you what any difference between them is. Um, I think what would be really cool is maybe like in a more original story, like if it was like another group of friends or like group of researchers or something that people can really connect with, and then that would probably bring it out of like this mesh of like just dinosaur movie general thing. Um, and I would personally love to see like a fresh new cast of characters like that that you can like relate to.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I think that's a great point, sophie. And again, it's just really interesting to hear you know two veterans of the franchise and then two you know people that are like kind of keeping up with it, but from an arm's you know length, so super insightful there. And yeah, phil, we're going to see what happens next. It could really go anywhere, but that is my story for this month.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, and you know, also kind of touch on what Jay was saying as well, like the Jurassic Park, I think Jurassic Park and also to an extent the Lost World, they still felt like very niche, specialized films. But all the Jurassic World movies are just generic action films. I really love the first Jurassic World, although it is just a retread of Jurassic Park essentially, but still really really good movie. But then after that Fallen Kingdom, dominion I mean people joke about it all the time but like they did go like Fast and the Furious, but they became just very generic action films, which really bums me out, even though I love Fast and the Furious. But I want something different out of my dinosaur movies. I mean that's always been my number one fandom. So yeah, we'll see. But again they're doing a lot of these things backwards. So all right, let's bring back the star of the show. Hold on a second here. She turned the volume up for the, for the, for the applause.

Speaker 1:

There's no need to do that.

Speaker 4:

No, I think it's just loud enough, here we go. We got a couple more cracks at this guys, surprisingly.

Speaker 3:

I think the last one was pretty good. All right, I feel.

Speaker 1:

I feel pretty confident. All right, we're going to go for it. Three, two, one Spin.

Speaker 3:

That we know, that was not bad. He is on mobile.

Speaker 4:

There's like a slight delay.

Speaker 2:

I don't think it's just truly his fault.

Speaker 4:

But yeah.

Speaker 1:

All right Woo.

Speaker 4:

All right.

Speaker 3:

I don't have like a super long paragraph like everyone else did. I didn't know that was the assignment. I thought you were going to say I don't have a story and I've been like okay hold on a second.

Speaker 3:

I got nothing. So, yeah, I mean again, this is just going to be short, sweet to the point. Henry Cavill signing to marble For me personally, that is, that is huge. I'm a big fan of Henry and I love that. He's a nerd too, you know, he's really. He's really about it and hated that he left the Witcher. We're not even going to get into that, but I'm hoping, you know, with the trend that we've been seeing with the marble films, that he can use his super awesome powers to kind of sway them back into what we, what we're really grew to love, you know, back with, like the Iron Man's, the original Avengers, you know that style of film to where it's not so cash grabby. Thank you, hey, let's make everyone happy with this film like the Marbles. So, yeah, I'm very excited about this. I'm really hoping that he gets a good say in what character he's going to be and I'm also curious on who you think he could or should or would play.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, because we that's kind of like. The rumor flowing around right now is that he has signed on with some role. I don't think it's Dr Doom, because I think they're going to give that to us. Oh, is that?

Speaker 1:

the rumor. The rumor is Dr Doom.

Speaker 4:

Yeah that he is Dr Doom. I mean I would be all for that, like you said Henry Cavill was. I mean he I like man of Steel. I think man of Steel is one of the better DC films. I mean that's not really saying much but still. But I enjoyed the man of Steel film and I think at the end of Black Adam even though I sat through that horrible film, I was still excited to see him, like, come back and again have his say because he genuinely wanted to be Superman. He was so excited about it. And then you know everything that happened with the Witcher as well. I have never seen the show and replayed the game, but I know that again, the project very, very passionate about. Isn't there a Warhammer movie coming out? He better be in that, he better be like a former project.

Speaker 2:

He better.

Speaker 3:

I did see something about that too.

Speaker 4:

He better have something to do with it at least. But yeah, I mean, I, henry Cavill, is an outstanding actor and Marvel would be extremely lucky to add him to the roster along with some of the other really, really solid pieces that they've added here recently and again to kind of get this thing on track. Really, the whole thing with Marvel is less is more. You got to backtrack the projects. You had to have a lot less TV shows, a lot less movies, and then start again focusing, which I think they are doing focusing on the characters that people want to see.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I think that's. That's key, sophie, you know, how do you kind of feel about that news? Or, in general, one of the one of the stories that we were potentially going to bring up was the fantastic forecasting, which I think, just in general, people are kind of excited about. You know people like Henry Cavill being rumored, but now Pedro Pascal, a big player along with many other, vanessa Kirby and the like. So how any announcements like that, these announcements or anything that you've kind of heard that has gotten you excited, I feel like for most of us. I don't know about you, but what you said about Jurassic is how I feel about Marvel now, like I'm kind of at arm's length, but some things are getting me excited. So what are your thoughts on it?

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I will say like as a blanket statement I wish I was more familiar with like. I'm very familiar with Marvel and somewhat more DC, but like not so much with like keeping up with the rumors of casting. But I do feel very strongly about like Marvel, like I kind of even mentioned it before. It's like Marvel and Star Wars, kind of like overconsumption of like just spitting stuff out to have stuff out, which means that the quality is not as good, especially lately, like in the past couple of years, like I can't. I just as like a like a loose thing. The last like really pretty good Marvel movie that I remember watching was like Shang-Chi, because I really like that movie. But like since then I haven't seen like anything. That's like kind of been up to that, unless I'm missing one which may, may be controversial.

Speaker 1:

But maybe Guardians 3. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, but see, like Guardians I feel separate.

Speaker 2:

No, that's what I mean. Like Guardians is like its own thing. I didn't wouldn't even consider that as like part yeah. So, yeah, guardians for sure, but yeah, I see my brain wasn't even there but yeah, I think, I think it's important for them to, of course, like cast, cast good actors, actors that will fit the role. I think it's kind of interesting and Marvel's always done this but it's interesting how I feel like it may be more and more difficult to cast like these really big actors and not see them as the actor but as the character. I think that's one thing that needs to be considered, especially with like Pedro Pascal being he's an incredible actor and he's done like some really good, like amazing roles, but I feel like people like may just see Pedro Pascal and not whoever he's cast, as I think that's something else to consider.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, that's a great point. I think that that's definitely what I was worried about when he was cast as Joel for the last of us, and luckily, I mean he's so fantastic he overcame that. But where Joel was kind of like a weird perfect fit, Him being Reed Richards is interesting, it's. It's an interesting dynamic. I do like the cast, I do. And then again, Jay Henry Cavill he's a handsome son of a gun like Dr Doom. He can make that work and he's like he's got the presence. And Phil, we talked about this right, I don't know if you knew this.

Speaker 4:

We talked about Henry Cavill being handsome, probably, I mean well, yes, we talk about it like daily. Talk about it a lot more, a lot, a lot. It's really weird.

Speaker 1:

But we talked about this, phil and Jay, I'm not sure if you recall this, but Avengers Five was supposed to be Kang Dynasty, but now there's a lot of rumors that that's going to change, obviously with everything, with Jonathan Majors. So Henry Cavill is Doom Physically, you know he could absolutely embody that character and I don't know as an actor. I think to Sophie's point sometimes the actor and their gravitas can like go against them. I think with Henry Cavill it could work.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, no, for sure, I hope that he was in another movie. Sorry, no, you're good, he was in the great movie Okay we don't have to talk about it.

Speaker 4:

Listen listen, this quest to hit 50 movies in 2024 is going to be rough. Okay, I already understand that, and I've seen a couple of stinkers. I thought three, I think. I've seen two ones and a two this year. So it's off, we're off to a rough start. Couldn't be me. Couldn't be me.

Speaker 3:

Listen, was he in real steel? I?

Speaker 1:

was you, Jack. I don't appreciate you bringing out real steel. You know what?

Speaker 2:

Then talk about real steel.

Speaker 1:

We still have to get to Sophie's story, and we have to I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry.

Speaker 4:

I hope that we like like barely see Henry Cavill as dark Cavill is Dr Doom in the Fantastic Four film and then, like in the post credit scene, it's like it's like Benedict Wong and he looks and he says like we're all doomed, and then, like looks right at the screen. I hope that's how it ends. Sign me up, that's kind of dope. I can't Somebody write this down. Sign me up for that, all right. Well, let's get to our last one. Despite what you guys may be thinking, even when there is only one person left on the wheel, we still spin it.

Speaker 1:

You never know.

Speaker 4:

You never know what could happen. Anything can happen when it comes to the wheel, so we can't have any anarchy here, should we maybe? Should we maybe delay it, like on our end, and then that way we're on par with Jay, because again I think Jay has like a tiny little lag.

Speaker 1:

I feel like Jay's got to figure it out. He's got all the fancy emojis over there, so that's true.

Speaker 2:

It has to be faster yeah there we go.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, I don't know why we were trying to Never mind.

Speaker 1:

Now I have the idea of you spending the extra time editing to make him even slower. All right, let's do it. We're going to count down our last one, three, two, one Spin.

Speaker 4:

Spin, spin wheel.

Speaker 2:

Spin wheel, spin it, you can't have anything nice.

Speaker 1:

You really can't.

Speaker 4:

And you can't All right. All right, we are going to finish up our stories, oh my gosh who saw that coming? All right, sophie. What do you have for what did I miss February 2024?

Speaker 2:

Well, I have two stories, but I'm going to stick with the one that I think would be most interesting to talk about and it's more on brand. For me, big surprise, universal's Epic Universe reveal and that big video that they did revealing all different brands and everything. So I'm sure that we're all generally pretty familiar with that and saw it coming and have been excited to see. It seems like we're all pretty big into the theme parks. I'm actually less into Universal than Disney, but I've been keeping close tabs on this because it's such a cool project. So, just quick, I think most of us are generally familiar, but it's the Epic Universe is the new Universal Park here in Orlando. It would be the third park and it's the biggest park in Florida, like Universal Park, I believe, in the States, and the second biggest in the whole world, and it's going to open hopefully sometime, I think in summer 2025, and it has five different lands, all very exciting.

Speaker 2:

The central one is Celestial Park, which is its own original like concept, which I love that so much because Disney hasn't done that in a long time. They have the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, ministry of Magic, which is somewhat of an extension of the Diagon Alley and Hogwarts area that they have in the parks. Now Super Nintendo World, which is going to be I'm personally probably most excited for, even though they're all going to be great and they have that in Tokyo and in Hollywood. And they have the Mario Kart ride, which is an AR ride, and Princess Peach's Castle and all Bowser's Castle amazing things. And then they have the how to Train your Dragon Isle of Burke, which will have like flying dragons and a bunch of really cool stuff from the IP, and then Dark Universe, which is basically a land dedicated to Universal Classic monsters, especially like Frankenstein and all that stuff. So very, very cool mix of things. It's beautiful. It seems like it's really going to knock everybody's socks off. So I'm excited to hear what you guys think about that.

Speaker 4:

Let's throw it to Jay first, because it seemed like he was hearing it for the first time, so let's throw it over to Jay.

Speaker 3:

I was too low on what you were talking about. I was like what?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I was ready to bring it up.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, jay was like F my kids. I'm going here by myself.

Speaker 3:

Literally Dude. Okay, so first off, again bringing the kids in. My youngest is obsessed with how to train your dragon. We had to buy all of them on whatever Amazon, because they take them off in Netflix or whatever. Anyway, she's obsessed with that. I love how to train your dragon, so we're both going to enjoy that one. And then the Nintendo. That's my heart right there. When I saw the one in Tokyo, I was like I've always wanted to go to Japan, obviously you know for my band and everything. So now, knowing that that's going to be here, I'm very pumped about that, especially hearing it all for the first time. So thank you.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, it looks awesome, that's what we're here for.

Speaker 1:

That's why we do the podcast.

Speaker 4:

It looks incredible. And if you guys aren't familiar and for those of you that are listening, eric is very familiar that I have kind of a little bit of a disdain for amusement parks because I just have asthma, I have a heart condition. I just get very tired. But I can't wait for this. I mean, how to train your dragon is one of my favorite IPs. I'm excited, even though we continue to get more sequels. I'm excited for the fourth movie. I will see the live action, even though I don't think they should be making it. Sophie, do you know? Is this going to? Because it has the Ministry of Magic? Will this be connected to Islands of Adventures and Universal Studios so that you can take the train back and forth like you can between the other two parks, or is this something completely separate from that campus?

Speaker 2:

Yeah, it is. It's actually pretty far removed. It's not like anywhere, it's not like behind it, it's actually like pretty far away from well, it's like relatively close, but it's like on different, like the other side of I4.

Speaker 4:

Somewhere else.

Speaker 2:

So it's like it's a little bit further but it's much bigger, and I think I'm not as familiar with Harry Potter, but I believe it's like, yeah, it's like 1920s Paris to the 1990s British Ministry. So it's like from the other movies, not Harry Potter, it's like the Fantastic Beasts, Fantastic.

Speaker 3:

Beasts. That's it. Yeah, the Loose Commander.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. So it's going to be like totally, I know it's like the coolest thing, it's like going to be its own thing. I'm sure that there's going to be crossover, probably, like with like the wands and stuff like that, but it's not like physically connected at all.

Speaker 4:

I think the only thing I'm concerned about is when are we going to be able to go like 2026? Like when are we going to be able to get in, If you think that maybe they're going to do some sort of limit to how many people can get tickets per day, because this thing is going to be insane. I mean all of us, you know, being located here in Florida, anytime you get a new amusement park, and especially when it's a universal park, I mean in our lifetime, you know, we thought like Islands of Adventure would be it. So the fact that we're getting this like again within our lifetime is awesome, Eric. I even I will go to this and I will spend a weekend there.

Speaker 1:

So that's how cool this is going to be. That's wild, because not only does he have so many medical problems, but he also hates roller coasters and anything fun.

Speaker 4:

That too. Yeah, that's you Well, again heart problem roller coaster heart problem.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, you hated roller coasters prior to the heart problems, yeah.

Speaker 4:

But now I have a built in excuse, so it all works out. I probably wouldn't trade the heart disease for the fear of roller coaster. It's just probably not even trade. I probably wouldn't just go on the roller coaster.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, no, I'm super excited. It's definitely an interesting mixture of worlds. Like I can understand why they would do Harry Potter, super Nintendo, how to train your dragon. I feel like that concept for Dark Universe would be better at Universal Studios. I feel like Universal Studios needs like a really big bump, maybe a makeover a little bit, because out of the two parks currently it is the least fun one, like if you go there for like the shows and stuff and that's kind of its thing. But I don't know, it is definitely lacking. So you know I'm excited for this. I don't know when I'll go, but I definitely plan on wanting to go pretty soon. I think the weekend it opens is a great week to check out the other parts oh yeah, sure, let's, let's.

Speaker 3:

Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, absolutely.

Speaker 4:

The other parts. I was going to say yeah.

Speaker 3:

I personally I'd probably wait. Honestly, I'd probably like a good year before I went.

Speaker 4:

Dark Universe is interesting. It kind of bums me out that we just got the Velocicoster because this would be perfect for a Jurassic area. They wouldn't do it now. At this point it's too late, but this would be. This would be great for Jurassic. What about just a whole area that's a jaws and it's just a bunch of water and just a lake? Bring back jaws.

Speaker 2:

There's not even a ride. You just have to add your own risk going the water yeah, it's just the ocean, yeah.

Speaker 4:

It's just, is Lake Plastid a universal film? You can just do that.

Speaker 1:

Perfect, I don't like that. But yeah, sophie, I'm really glad you brought up that story. I had that one in the chamber as they back up in case you didn't do it, and I wanted to get your thoughts. So that's a, that's super exciting.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I'm really glad we could. We could talk about it and hear what everybody's excited about and just like feel like you were saying the good thing about it, at least from the attractions I know of, like a Super Nintendo World, for example, they're pretty, like they're not so intensive, so it's actually good for like all ages, like family, like like the Mario Kart ride is not even a coaster, it's like a dark ride, so it's like that's going to be, and then they have like all the little bands and stuff that you can interact with the land with. So there's, it seems like there's a lot more to do than just like actually go on rides, which is probably again going to up that attendance and make it crazier to go, but it'll be worth it.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, I am kind of bummed, though, that we're not going to get the Jurassic World Singapore ride, which is like I want to travel to that Universal Studios to ride that ride specifically. It looks awesome. So we won't be getting that here, unfortunately. But yeah, there are going to be people flocking to this thing. It's going to be crazy. So, yeah, great stories from everybody here. Did anybody have any? I know, eric, you had a couple of bonus stories or didn't make the cuts, and then we'll also throw it to Jay Sophie as well, if you guys had any that you just wanted to throw out here here. Uh, rapid fire.

Speaker 1:

I can tell by Jay's face in his earlier comments that he probably doesn't have a bonus story. Is that accurate, jay? Yeah, no, okay, it wasn't in the assignment.

Speaker 3:

I hope one, but it's not that exciting.

Speaker 1:

I'm going to let Jay and Sophie go first, because I do have a couple to throw in. There is like rapid fire. So, jay, what is, uh, what is your extra story?

Speaker 3:

Super casual Again nobody else needs my extra story. My extra story is that Sophie has an extra story, so you go ahead.

Speaker 1:

That's wild.

Speaker 3:

You like that right?

Speaker 2:

That was. That's funny, I appreciate. Thank you, um, again. This is, this is nothing crazy, it's just a funny little thing, but it's kind of. All of the confirmed things that are coming to Fortnite and then the rumor things coming to Fortnite Um, I'll go ahead and mention the, the rumored ones. Which is apparently a leak was that one piece is coming to Fortnite, which I'm personally very excited about. Um, so that's one thing. And then the confirmed stuff was Disney's partnership with, uh, um, with Epic Games, um, I almost said Epic Universe, epic Games to do it looks like they're doing like a whole expansion world and some kind of map with Disney. I assume Disney skins at some point. Um, so there's that. And then the most confirmed happening tomorrow is the Lady Gaga Fortnite Festival concert, which I'm guessing well, you guess, you know it has like a list of her songs and a skin and a whole bunch of things. So I'm personally very excited about that.

Speaker 4:

I can't believe we haven't played Fortnite together, by the way, since we last talked, since since he had you on last year.

Speaker 4:

So, because, literally, I was texting our group chat today about all the Lady Gaga songs coming to. I'm most excited for the Nelly song that's coming to Fortnite festival. So, uh, that's where, uh, that my head is at. But you act, this was actually one of my bonus stories as well. Um, was the uh, this expansive universe that they are going to create. Um, it's going to be insane and it's a. It's such a good move, too for Epic because, as we are transitioning away from battle royale, this is going to continue to keep them relevant. Like they just put out three new game modes that aren't battle royale that are doing great. Um, I don't really dip into Lego Fortnite as much as I did when it first came out, but it's still very popular. Uh, the racing mode we don't ever touch. But, Eric, we talked about this the other day. We played Fortnite festival probably at least twice a week and it's a blast.

Speaker 2:

So I I'm so glad to hear that I love Fortnite festival and I will jump any time. We have to start playing now, but any time I'll jump on and play Fortnite festival because it's so much fun.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, and then that guitar is coming out later this year.

Speaker 1:

So yeah, I was going to say we have to drag people to it, so if we can have people who actually enjoy it, that'd be great.

Speaker 2:

That's crazy. No, I love it. I'll go on and just play festival sometimes.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, it's a good time. Jay, how much Fortnite you playing?

Speaker 3:

Zilch Day in my life.

Speaker 1:

It sounds like you have an exciting day.

Speaker 3:

Now is the perfect time, or I guess so.

Speaker 1:

You can help us liberate for freedom on Helldivers Deliver democracy. Just saying Helldivers too, think about it.

Speaker 3:

I think I saw that you don't talk about that in the last or the January show.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, we, we, we talked about it kind of getting prepared, but it's like crazy now, like the community loves that game and we're having a blast. We're going to get on after this and play. Helldivers so fight bugs and robots.

Speaker 4:

There you go. I actually, since, while we're on video games, eric, I'll go because I did have a another one of my bonus stories here. Curious to see if anybody ever played this, because we just learned that an Epic Mickey remake is coming out for all consoles and my sister and I love the crap out of the first two, really, really good. I think one thing that really held that game back was playing it with the Wii remote, playing it with the Wiimote and then playing with the. You know, whatever the other piece was called really held that game back. The second one, I think, did come out on PS3 and Xbox 360, but the original one is still my favorite and I'm curious to see if any of you have played Epic Mickey and if not, would you want to go in and play it now?

Speaker 1:

I missed that boat personally.

Speaker 2:

I? I did not. I got on that boat. I loved Epic Mickey but I agree that it, like most games like I keep thinking about every time I hear like the Wiimote, the Wii remote held it back, which is the case in most Wii games that are not like the sports games I think of, like Skyward Sword and stuff too. But I loved Epic Mickey. I think it was such. I think when Disney does like darker, like more abstract concepts, they do it so well and they don't do it often enough. So personally, that was like my takeaway from like the direct today and all that stuff. So I'm super excited about that and I look forward to seeing what they do with the opportunity to remaster it on not the Wii, as much as I love the Wii.

Speaker 4:

It was way ahead of its time. Jay, did you play Epic Mickey? Your kids will love it, for sure they will. They will definitely like, really enjoy it. It's a fun time. Okay, Did you just say no, or did you not?

Speaker 1:

Give us a thumbs down. Yeah, give us a thumbs down, bubble.

Speaker 4:

I don't think it works with it.

Speaker 1:

It's raining. Oh my God, it started raining.

Speaker 4:

What is happening? Do it again. Okay, now do thumbs up.

Speaker 1:

I was going to say we need to start having more people on the phone.

Speaker 4:

Why are we using this on our computer. We need to use the phone.

Speaker 1:

No, Phil, I've tried to access Riverside on my phone, but I bet you this is it.

Speaker 3:

You have to download that app.

Speaker 1:

Jay, do you have an Apple phone? Of course, I do. I think that's what it is, because when I joined my phone, android I looked like an actual robot, like it was just like busy, it was bad, it was bad. I might do it just for this. Yes, yes, eric. What were you?

Speaker 4:

excited for.

Speaker 3:

It was incredible.

Speaker 4:

Eric, what did you have to wrap up the stories for February?

Speaker 1:

I'm going to have to find a way to clip that. Yeah, I've got three stories. I'm going to rapid fire them. You guys pick whichever one you guys want to talk about. I have a feeling all three of these will have some appeal News today. Yesterday, when we're recording today, I'm pretty sure today, star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection has been revealed. Super crazy that on the 20th anniversary it's going to be available on Xbox, playstation, the Switch. It's going to support up to 64 players online, which is nuts, and then it's going to have some bonus maps and heroes that were not easily accessible when the game originally came out. So super exciting news there.

Speaker 1:

Jay, this story is probably specifically to you there was a spider-verse production designer who announced that there has been a pitch for an animated Batman Beyond movie and there was some concept art revealed for that.

Speaker 1:

So, jay, as I get to my last one, if you want to do a quick Google search for spider-verse Batman Beyond, you got to see the concept art. I'd love to hear your thoughts. And for the last story, disney strikes a deal with Sony to take over its DVD and Blu-ray disc business, which I think is extremely interesting because the first episode we did of what Did I Miss? My story was talking about or was either me or Feliz was talking about actual DVDs and, like the fact that physical media seems to be going a different direction. With this move from Disney and Best Buy no longer, as of this year, holding DVDs and Blu-rays, I think it's a very interesting topic, to say the least, that this move is being made. So Star Wars Battlefront coming out next month, spider-verse Artist talking about Batman Beyond, and then Disney striking a deal for Sony. I will throw it to any of you guys to pick up one of those stories if you have extra commentary.

Speaker 4:

At least we're finally going to get to play a good Battlefront in 2024. So that'll be nice, I heard I mean the first remake wasn't bad.

Speaker 1:

I heard the second one got better with time, but it just unfortunately passed.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, we're not going to play it now, especially when we have Hell Divers. I'm not going to jump into Battlefront 2 2020 or whatever, but yeah, and then as far as Batman Beyond, in the style of the Spider-Verse oh my God, dude, take my money right now. Do you want to set up? Like do you want to set up like some kind of go fund me?

Speaker 2:

Do I need to send money?

Speaker 4:

Do I send money somewhere?

Speaker 2:

That would be incredible, Sophia it looks like the look on your face.

Speaker 4:

You were excited about that prospect too.

Speaker 2:

Oh, because it's gorgeous, that's. I mean I have I'm literally looking at the Spider-Man Across Spider-Verse art book. I love that style, I'm a big fan of that. So even when I saw that, I was like this is it's genuinely like, really, really, really cool to see that.

Speaker 4:

And Batman Beyond is probably my second favorite behind the animated series and it's close to. It is like one and two and some days they can switch places, so that would be incredible.

Speaker 1:

And Jay, that Batman Beyond movie is for us. It's our thing, like we deserve it. We waited long enough. 100%.

Speaker 3:

Terry McGinnis to me is he's just too underrated, you know, like for real fans. They love him, but he just never got the credit that he was due. I'm all for it, man, I am all for it. I really did want a live action one too. They had a bunch of you know like fan art going around for a while. I can't remember who it was, but it would have worked out perfectly. I was, I am very much for anything that may be on Spider-Man 2099. I love I love all.

Speaker 4:

Who did they? Who was like the after the last Dark Knight movie? Who was the incumbent? Batman? Who was it? It was a big name actor.

Speaker 3:

Oh, it was Twilight.

Speaker 4:

What? No, no, no, no, no, Remember in in the final Batman film, the third Nolan Batman movie.

Speaker 1:

It was Joseph Gordon Levitt.

Speaker 4:

Joseph Gordon Levitt. Yeah, oh yeah, I'd have been cool with that. I would have been cool with it, I thought you were saying who was the? Batman yeah, no, no, no, yeah, that was like Twilight. And yeah, people love and also for the last story, eric, people love their physical media, so I think that'll be a good idea to keep that around. Question is, I guess, where are you going to get it? I guess only online. You know days of going to a store. How are they?

Speaker 1:

distributing it.

Speaker 4:

I mean as of right now.

Speaker 1:

You know Walmart, you know stores like that, still holding it pretty, holding it down pretty well. But I'm just curious next five years, like it could change completely.

Speaker 3:

It feels like yeah, it's actually funny to say that, because when I got the van, eric, you know, phil, I think you've seen it but when I got the van I wanted to get a CD player. You know and I'm running around to all the stores in my head that I remembered getting CDs from, and it was, it was ridiculous Like Walmart had like a square section, maybe this big, and it was like some random, you know stuff that they probably found at a warehouse. Wherever I went to Best Buy, I went to Second and Charles. Even Second and Charles had a very skim selection. And you know, as I was thinking, I'm like I really don't remember the last time I bought a physical DVD, blu-ray, anything like that.

Speaker 3:

Like I have a storage, like a tote in my garage that's full of, you know, old DVDs. Every now and then I'll bust one out, but you really don't think about them until they say, hey, we're actually getting rid of it, we're getting rid of physical, and how scarce it has really become. And even with my kids, you know, just showing them things, you know, when I got in, when they got in the van and I put the CD in, and they were like, well, how do you listen to their songs. I was like, oh, pop the CD out, pop another one in. And they're like, well, what about the other song? I was like, oh, you want to listen to that again? Pop it out, put it back in. It's just, it's blows their mind how quick, how easily accessible everything has become because it's digital, and how quickly all of the physical has been forgotten.

Speaker 4:

There is a video that went viral, I think probably a couple of years ago, of this mom. She has her entire CD collection like on a big dining room table and the girl filming it is obviously her daughter, much younger, and it's kind of like, I don't want to say, making fun not making fun of her in a malicious way, but just being like mom. I can just stream all this now. And then the mom is like no, I like being able to put the CD in and listen to this song and she goes vinyl came back. I'm not getting rid of these and she is more right every single day that passes. Like vinyl fully came back. And and look where we are now, and some of those records are going for a huge amount of money.

Speaker 4:

Me and my sister have been rebuy physical DVDs and VHS tapes. Let's see what we found on our trip to Orlando recently. See, we got a mean girls DVD. Let's see we got a prisoner of Azkaban oh, field of dreams on VHS. I don't think that's his signature, but I don't think that's Kevin Costner's signature probably. But let's see we got that. Oh, we got a miscigenality on tape. So we have that. Oh, and Liar, Liar. So just the first bag that I picked up near me.

Speaker 1:

I hate, that was my haul.

Speaker 4:

Well, all my stuff is, right here, very unorganized from all of our drifting trips.

Speaker 1:

But I get it. I don't know, like my son, just I'm not even going to go into the story of how this happened, but he has like an MP3 player that he just got from a family member and I'm like I don't even know how we would do that. I'm not, I can't download Lime Wire in 2024. Can I? So I don't know what to do and I'm, and I'm, I'm totally removed from it, like I get. I used to have to do that, but I'm a full Spotify stand, so I'm sorry I'm on it. So, jay, when you said that story, it just reminded me I think a lot of us at our generation are going through with. The last generation has gone through when they realized most places like don't easily accept cash anymore. So that's just our segue into getting older and I hate that.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, well, and like she said, all that, all that media eventually makes its way back around. Anybody else have any extra stories, or are you guys ready to jump into our game?

Speaker 1:

I think that's it. I think we're ready for the game. I'm excited and nervous.

Speaker 4:

We'll see how it goes. Listen, so this is the first time I've ever done this, so for those of you that have that are able to use your mobile phone, that is the preferable way. That's the easiest way to do it for Jay. If you'd like to go ahead and click on that link and I'll let you guys set that up. I'm going to give you guys a QR code that are going to be using your phone, so hold on a second.

Speaker 1:

Why did Jay go off camera?

Speaker 3:

Because I have to have to send it to my computer, because I can air drop it to my computer because you know, Matt, you know do you want me to just manually type that?

Speaker 1:

Why don't you message it to us?

Speaker 4:

I put it in there, for, oh, that makes sense. Well, you guys can use it Well you two can use the QR code because it's easier to use your phone.

Speaker 1:

Who's onion?

Speaker 3:

I'm already here. What's up?

Speaker 4:

Okay.

Speaker 3:

It was the game then.

Speaker 4:

I'll tell you the game in a second. I think you guys will recognize the game in a moment. Were you able to get in, Jay?

Speaker 3:

No, it says inner game pin. I thought you said. I thought you said what's the game.

Speaker 2:

I was like shut up. I'll tell you the game in a second.

Speaker 4:

It's a 7132.

Speaker 1:

Okay, I'm going to be honest with you. This is not. It is not who's potato?

Speaker 4:

The QR codes not working here.

Speaker 1:

No.

Speaker 4:

Okay, try and go to that website. I'll text it to you here and then I'll give you the code.

Speaker 1:

The code's on the screen right.

Speaker 3:

Oh, that is the code, yeah, yeah. Also, I know we're an hour in, but I'm into as real as I forgot. Am I supposed to be landscape or like portrait? It doesn't matter.

Speaker 1:

You're showing landscape on our end.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, because when I first logged in it was like, oh go, landscape for optimized usage. But now that I'm thinking about it, everybody else is like portrait. So I'm just like maybe I should probably been portrait this whole time.

Speaker 1:

No, it'll be. Well, we looked that way just for the recording space in general. Got it, yeah, so we're good.

Speaker 2:

Okay.

Speaker 1:

God, which one. Now I got to pick something we could be here all night, dude.

Speaker 4:

No, this is the least stressful thing that you should be thinking about right now. Just pick one. There's no mango, okay, in case you're looking for it.

Speaker 1:

I was, but I've got to find, like the right one, which one of these is like really awkward there's dinosaurs, I would pick.

Speaker 4:

You want the Velociraptor?

Speaker 1:

I don't want the Velociraptor, this one's kind of unsettling, so I'll go for that one. God, it's just C star.

Speaker 4:

It looks like that, that 2020 suicide squad movie where Starro, like, sends out the starfish and the people that's unfortunate.

Speaker 1:

Speaker 4:

I used to do this whenever I trained at Geico and I was trying to remember the name of the website and I found it and I feel like we'll use this a lot more. I'm just gonna spin the wheel independently and we'll see who goes first. Make sure you answer Jeopardy style as well, otherwise I will not give you the points. Alright, jay, you are going first. Speaker 3:

Speaker 1:

All right, everybody is wagered.

Speaker 4:

You don't have to type it in or anything, no, no okay, yeah, I guess you guys. Just after this, I'll let you guys give me my. Oh, let's display wagers, eric. All right, eric, did you have an answer? How are you gonna say cookies after you knew Eric was wrong?

Speaker 1:

Biscuits, but I fumbled the biggest return and what all in you and all that on that oh.

Speaker 3:

They had an ad for that old tick tock. No, no, eric.

Speaker 1:

And it was biscuits with the boss the female character. Yeah yes, I didn't know they were called biscuits. I thought they were cookies. Nope.

Speaker 4:

No, that's why, cookies to me. You also didn't have to wager 1600. You could have wagered to, like Sophie did, and Relevant.

Speaker 1:

I thought it would be like similar to those categories not a complete left field and fucking Ted lasso.

Speaker 4:

All that is greatly appreciated, but if you find yourself wanting to perhaps support the podcast a little bit extra, eric will let you know how you can do that.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, so for every free way that you can do it, like joining our community on discord or social media in general we have alternative ways where you can go beyond and support us further, whether that's a donation directly to our buzzsprout website or you take those funds and move them to patreon, where patrons like briar and Stefan are helping out the show and, in return, getting exclusive access behind the scenes and early Access to episodes like this one. You could definitely get a lot of extra perks there, but no matter what you do, the likes, the comments, the shares all of the above are truly appreciated. I want to thank our guests, sophie and Jay, for joining us. My name is mr Eric almighty. That is my co-host, philip Filipino, and, please don't forget, we release new episodes in the podcast every Wednesday, plus bonus content on platforms like tiktok, and all you got to do is wait for it.

Speaker 4:

So I heard you're looking for a go-to source for entertainment. Wait for it gaming.

Speaker 3:

Wait for it, anime.

Speaker 2:

Mr Eric, almighty and fill the Filipino.

Speaker 1:

yeah, they've got you covered and all you got to do is Wait for it.

Speaker 4:
