Speaker 2Wait for it Gaming. Wait for it Anime PLUS ULTRA.
Speaker 1Mr Eric Almighty and Phil the Filipino.
Speaker 3Yeah, they've got you covered, and all you gotta do is wait for it. This is the Wait For it Podcast. Hey, everyone, welcome back to the Wait For it Podcast. I am your co-host, phil Barrera, aka Phil the Filipino.
Speaker 1And I'm your other co-host, Mr Eric Almighty, and for this edition of Creator Spotlight we are going back to the well of friends that we made at Brick City. If anything, Phil, we're trying to collect the infinity stones of voice actors that we've become very good friends with since Brick City passed in February, but an episode that has been long overdue and we're very excited to jump on to tonight.
Speaker 3But an episode that has been long overdue and we're very excited to jump on to tonight. Yeah, super excited, as you know, curator spotlight is you know, Eric you talked about in our international feature episode like that's. One of the proudest things that we've been able to do is continue that series and this is like one B, you know, like one A and one B between those two series, and that's because we get to talk to cool people that we have made friends with along the way, and tonight is no different. So, Eric, as far as Infinity Stones, I want to ask our guest It'll be your first question which Infinity Stone are you? Please welcome in our guest, Rue Ryder, voice actress, streamer, cosplayer. Rue, it's so good to see you. How are you tonight? Which Infinity Stone are you?
Speaker 2I know there's a few colors. Do they mean things?
Speaker 3Yes, which one is? Josh Eric. Josh is what Maybe Power Stone.
Speaker 1Man, you really wanted to throw a wrench to start off the episode.
Speaker 3You said Infinity Stone, so that got me. Yeah, but I meant Is there a blue one? So I'll go.
Speaker 1Yeah, there's a couple, there's a couple.
Speaker 3Infinity Stones. The blue one is the space stone. Yeah, are you Sure? Are you big into it? Okay, there you go, yeah We'll be the space stone Perfect. Crazy.
Speaker 1Had to maybe pull up infinity stones.
Speaker 3You brought it up, I ran with it.
Speaker 1I thought you were lobbing it up to me so I ran with it. Yeah, you know, I saw Rue cosplay as Thanos once. Yeah, especially her cosplay.
Speaker 3That's it, she was full on purple. It was great, I knew it. I knew it Well. Rue, thank you so much for being here. How are you doing tonight?
Speaker 2I'm doing pretty good. Thank you guys for having me.
Speaker 3Yeah, like Eric said, you're super busy so we knew we had to make sure we got you on the schedule and it's really great to see you and hear from you, but it's going to be a really fun episode. So for anybody that is new to the podcast and maybe you're from Rue's audience, make sure you stick around. At the very end of the episode We'll let you know where you can find everything you need regarding Wayfarer Podcast, as well as Rue. But, eric, anything else we need to go over before we jump into this very, very fun conversation, and then you inevitably rig a game against me.
Speaker 1Well, you know that may or may not happen. We are going to see whether or not that's the case. I have been accused of such atrocities, but tonight we don't know what's in store. And, rue, honestly I don't have anything else to bring up other than to maybe kind of throw your first lob to you For our audience. You know we've definitely been pretty open about our experience at Brick, getting to meet you and some of your other castmates as well for a very special show that you're a part of. I'd like to give you an opportunity just to introduce yourself and also you know, not only what you do but what you've got going on, before we kind of get into the nitty gritty of this episode.
Speaker 2Yeah, absolutely so. I'm Rue Ryder. I'm mostly known for my voice. Yeah, I mean, that makes sense. Yeah, I'm known for my voice. I'm known for voicing Toriko Koshi in the show my Dear Friend Nokotan, which is a super silly anime about a deer girl, and then my character character who's a former delinquent who is now dealing with this deer girl and is now the president of a deer club that she had no interest in being a part of. So it's, it was a lot of fun. But outside of that, though, I've been doing, um, a lot more video games lately, which is so fun, so cool. Um, I love doing video game stuff because it can be super grounded and, you know, like realistic, but then other times it's super fun and over the top. So I've been doing that, some animation things and a bunch, just a bunch, of other things, and then, like you were saying earlier, a lot of cons coming up, a lot of cons coming up this year. So I'm just very excited to be a part of the you know, the space.
Speaker 3Yeah, and we knew that we had to have you know, you guys on as we make our way through the cast, because it's already radiating right now, erica, and I'm sure our audience will pick up on it. Just the energy that all of you bring is so much fun and I can't wait to see you guys again, whether you know whether it be at another convention or or well, for you and I it's going to be at our Florida voiceover meetup, which I'm super excited about in August and I never really want to do anything Disney, but I was like throughout Disney Springs I was like we can do that, I'll go.
Speaker 2I'll make an exception.
Introducing Roo Ryder: Voice Actress & Cosplayer
Speaker 3Yeah, that'll be fine, but but I want to ask you know what, as we we've had quite a few voice actors on the podcast and we always want to know what your journey was. Is this something that you always knew was going to be an option for you, or were you one of those theater nerds and that's how you got into this? What was your journey?
Speaker 2So my journey was I was an athlete growing up and I basically did sports my whole life. Until college I was doing track, cross-country volleyball, soccer, basketball, swimming, all the stuff. And I really enjoyed things like theater, like I really enjoyed Disney movies and Tangled is my favorite one. So I was really inspired by, you know, rapunzel and everything. She's my favorite Disney princess. And you know I wanted to do theater but my schedule wouldn't really allow it because I was doing so many sports. It's like, oh, you know I wanted to do theater but my schedule wouldn't really allow it because I was doing so many sports. It's like, oh, you got practice after school, you have meets on the weekends and games and stuff. You didn't really have time to do it.
Speaker 2So I did audition for one play back in seventh grade I think, and my friend told me the day before the audition. They said, hey, there's an audition tomorrow and she was big into the theater that I was going to audition for. So she was like already prepared, she had everything. She's like you need a monologue and you need a song. I didn't know what a monologue was, I had no idea. A song, sure, what kind of song should I sing? And she was like maybe a Disney song. So I sang Feed the Birds from Mary Poppins and I did not get any role in the show. I didn't get stage crew either.
Speaker 2So back then that was, you know, it kind of saved me to be able to continue doing the sports, because once I got into college I ended up dropping from college as I found a lot of other voice actors also too. But once I got out of there I started doing party princess stuff. So I would be an entertainer for kids, parties and everything. So I would dress up as the different princesses perform, sing, and it was all improv, nothing was really scripted. So that was kind of my first actual dive into acting scripted. So that was kind of my first actual dive into acting.
Speaker 2And then during COVID I actually worked with another voice actress who at the time was doing a lot of indie stuff and is now very successful in their career. And I didn't know that voice acting was like a thing. You know I was like I mean, I knew it was a thing, but I didn't know it was a thing that I could do. So I was just like, oh, that's really cool. So then when COVID was, you know, really starting to kick in. My husband showed me a video of someone explaining about voice acting and casting call club, and from there I looked into it a little bit. And then 2022 came around and that's when I was like, all right, let's try auditioning for things. And then I did. And then I've taken classes. I've been a part of so many different productions, you know, I've met so many friends and that's kind of how I got here Not much acting experience beforehand. I just kind of dove in and hoped for the best.
Speaker 1Yeah, I think the Feed the Birds poll is crazy. I was like, what song did she sing? Feed the Birds.
Speaker 3I told you for sure it was going to be a Tangled song. I definitely would have put money on a Tangled song.
Speaker 2It's so funny though. Like everything in my life because, as most people know about me, I love my chickens, my birds and stuff. It's like everything in my life has kind of led up to where I'm at with birds. It just never occurred to me until I became an adult. Like Feed the Birds is that song my? Like Feed the Birds is that song? My favorite Pokemon growing up was like Blaziken and stuff, which is just a giant chicken and everything.
Speaker 3Solid choice.
Speaker 2Yeah, just everything is like bird related growing up and I just made that connection with that song too. That's crazy.
Speaker 1That's insane. Well listen, that's what we're here to do is we're diving deep into it.
Speaker 3We're unlocking generational memories.
Speaker 1You didn't even know. But obviously journey into voice acting is amazing. I know that chickens is not the only thing that you've grown up with over the year that has been so important to you but also cosplay, and I'm very curious what has that journey been like? Has it always been something like since youth that you've been interested in and is something you've kept up with today? Because it seems to be as much a part of your journey as the voice acting is, at least from the social media standpoint like getting to see the difference between your two accounts and the love and passion you have for each of the things that you're doing on each of them. So where does cosplay kind of fit in your journey?
Speaker 2So growing up, I loved dressing up. Like I love dressing as Hannah Montana. That was like my favorite thing. That was the show that I was like I want to be like her, I want to be the you know, the superstar, but then also have like a secret identity. But so I started dressing up when I was really little and then again, like when I got into the character performing stuff, that was kind of when I started dressing up. So that was like 2016 or so and that was. You know, I didn't really get to pick who I dressed up as, because it was whoever, um, the parent wanted for that party or for that event. So it'd be like Rapunzel, elsa, um, anna, I've done like, uh, like Ariel, I think. So it was very dependent on what they wanted, but I mean, I still had fun with it because it was princesses I love the princesses. And then, in 2019 or so, my husband told me about this game called Danganronpa, which a lot of people are very familiar with, and he's like I think you'd like this game and I didn't start playing it yet, but I really enjoyed the aesthetic of the character, junko Enoshima, and I was like I want to dress up as her. And he's like do it. So I ordered the stuff on Amazon and then put on the wig. It wasn't styled or anything. This is 2019.
Speaker 2Tiktok had just become TikTok from Musically and I just threw that on and I actually had a video go viral back in 2019 of me with my rooster or two of my chickens, where it was that pew, pew, pew, hold up, wait a minute, it's a chop. It was a weird audio, but if you know, you know. But I did a video like that and then I got. That's kind of where I got my followers from was from that video in 2019. And then I was able to do like live streams and stuff on Tik TOK and the people there were actually, you know, super, super kind and they were donating money through Tik TOK or like, I guess, tipping or whatever it was called on there, and I was able to afford to go to my first convention ever, which was MegaCon in 2019. So that was my first con ever and then from there it was just I really enjoyed hanging out with other people with the same interests, just enjoyed crafting.
Speaker 2Like the crafting kind of came a little bit later, but once I learned that, like sewing, it is about as scary as it seems but it's still manageable. I was like I want to try sewing, I want to try foam crafting, painting and all that. So I just kind of picked up those little bits as I went and then I picked characters that I really liked, that I'd have a passion to cosplay, because if you're trying to cosplay something you don't have any passion for, it's going to feel like a chore, like it's already going to kind of feel like a chore, but it's going to feel like a chore. You don't want to do so. From there I and then I got into One Piece like two years ago, and so like all of my recent cosplays are like all One Piece related, like Chopper, buggy, nami, sanji, luffy, everything.
Speaker 2That's great, yeah, phil you can sit this one out. We're able to talk some One.
Speaker 1Piece. That's usually how it goes. I will ask because I am still also very early into One Piece. I've already talked recently about possibly switching over to the manga for my own personal journey.
Speaker 3I'm going to take you off for a second really, gary, because you say you're pretty early in your One Piece journey, but you're like 100 plus episodes in which is-.
Speaker 2That's so early, that is so early.
Speaker 3That shouldn't be a thing.
Speaker 1You're not listening. That shouldn't be-. Yeah, you don't get it. You don't get it, phil, that's the beauty though.
Speaker 1I'm going to dead. No, don't do that, you're gonna make me mad. We did go to that, we did go to that, uh, but yeah, so I'm in skypea right now. I had started watching it and then I started re-watching it from the beginning so my family could take part in it, and you know, the anime can be a grind. I admit that I love it from episode one, though, like I'm, I'm in it for the long haul. So I've been. I've been thinking about jumping into the manga and that I say all that to ask where you are in your journey and what has it been about One Piece that has been such an interest of yours, because I feel like everybody's answers have similarities, but everybody's journey with One Piece is a little different.
Speaker 2Oh, I hate that we get on this, because I could talk for years about this. No, this is perfect.
Speaker 1Phil's just like. Oh God, no, phil's going to go grab a drink. He's going to go eat Phil's Mavericks cup.
Speaker 2Yeah, so I am on about episode 870 right now and I'm actually I'm still not even close to the end or like to where they're at right now. I still got another 300, 400 episodes, something like that. So I don't know when I started it. I will admit I started it out of spite. I was like there's no way this can be good, this like there's so many episodes they're overcompensating for something like there's no way people are actually watching this. So I actually started it, I believe, when I was making my Krampus version of Junko Anoshima for Holiday Matsuri, which is a holiday convention, and I was just kind of putting it on in the background because cosplays take hours. So I was like this is the perfect thing to just have. You know, I don't have to really pay too much attention.
Speaker 2And as I'm watching it, I just started getting more and more interested. But I was such a hater. The first thing I said was I think the show looks dumb. And then, who is the guy with the curly eyebrows? That's the dumbest thing I've ever seen. And now Sanji is my absolute favorite character of all time, like of anything, ever Of anything, ever.
Speaker 1Sanji's your guy.
Speaker 2Yes, I love him guy. Yes, he is, I love him. But it's like every backstory for me just shows, you know, the hardships of what each individual person as just a human or, I guess, as a reindeer or a skeleton. You know, we all have our own backstories where we come from. And for me it's the beauty of the found family with everybody, because they all are kind of on their own for the most part and then they just find that they can still be happy. It doesn't have to be with, you know, their blood family or anything, it can just be with the people you find along the way. And it really resonates with me because growing up I didn't have too many like close, close friends. I had like a friend or two but they one of them was not very nice to me but I thought it was friendship because I was like, oh, they're paying attention to me. Turns out they were bullying me but I just didn't know so at this point in my life.
Speaker 2I now have, you know, multiple close friends of mine, like Josh, who you guys had. Me and Josh have connected so much over the last few weeks, just from like going to cons and stuff. You know he's a really great person. Um, I have my friend Megan who voices um Neko in my Dear Friend no Katan, like we we met a little bit before that show and everything and it's like these people now in my life are the closest friends I've ever had and they are the most comfortable, like I've never been so comfortable with a group of people before. So having One Piece is kind of that like reminder where Luffy's just like you're my friend, now you're on board, let's go, and just everybody becomes a family together, learns you know how to work with each other, how to get over, you know arguments and everything. So it's just a really beautiful reminder of how life can be. So that's kind of where I really resonate with it.
Speaker 1Yeah, I love that, and, again, it's always wonderful to hear where everybody sits with it, because I think One Piece speaks like a universal language that everyone can kind of really buy into, except for Phil. So, phil, this is your opportunity. Now you jump right back in and take control of the episode, because otherwise we'll just keep going here.
Speaker 2Yep.
Speaker 3Yeah, let's do that. So, yeah, no, I'll give Eric that time. It's okay, it's totally fine, because he can't talk to me about it. So when he gets an opportunity to talk to someone else he's like, please.
Speaker 2Someone, please talk to me.
Speaker 1Remember that friend that was bullying you? Well, I haven't figured it out.
Speaker 3I'm still friends with him. Don't worry, eric, me and you will talk after this. That's right, please, and shout out to Megan, who you mentioned, who was the TA for my class with closing credits. She is awesome. But when we talk about, like, shifting to video games you've already talked about Danganronpa, as you know already. What other games as well, kind of you know. You said that you growing up you, you were an athlete, so you were pretty busy with that. Were there a lot of games that kind of shaped you when you were younger? Or and also, what are you playing now? We definitely know about Repo, which we we still are behind.
Speaker 3We need to get together and play, I know know, I know, but what are those games that shaped you early on, if there were any, and also, what are you playing now?
Speaker 2So I would say, definitely, growing up, I was big with the GameCube. Oh, I loved the GameCube. It's still like my favorite console to play. I usually played it a lot with my cousins who were about a month older than me and a year younger than me, so we were very close in age and growing up between like the ages of probably like three and like 12 or so, we were always playing video games together.
Gaming Talk: Nintendo Favorites and Simulators
Speaker 2They were, you know, they're two boys and I was the only girl, so I would always pick the girl characters for everything. Like it was just that typical, like they'd fight over who gets to play what and I'm just like I'll take the girl, and that settled that. But it was just that typical like they'd fight over who gets to play what and I'm just like I'll take the girl, and that settled that. But it was a lot of. I loved things like Mario Kart, double Dash that was one of my favorites. Uh, kirby Air Ride, which I know some of these games are coming out for, like the Switch 2 and stuff. But I don't have that kind of money to get the Switch 2, so, uh, I'm just gonna have to find a GameCube, think of the tariffs.
Speaker 2Yeah, I'm just going to have to find a GameCube. Think of the tariffs. Yeah, I'm just like does anybody have a free game, a spare GameCube somewhere, please? I'll give you like a hundred bucks, I don't know, but that. And then again this goes back to the whole bird thing.
Speaker 2One of my favorite games ever was the game Billy Hatcher, which is a kind of very niche game. It's from 2003 and it's about a boy named Billy and he is kind of dressed up as like a little chicken boy basically, and he rolls around these eggs and hatches them. He goes and then it like hatches open the eggs. And it was a Sega game too. So like there was a cameo of Sonic was in there too. Like you could hatch Sonic out of an egg it was. It was really cool. But that was one of my absolute favorite games ever Because you just like roll around the map, you have like the boss guys that you have to fight, you have little creatures that get to be like your buddy, that have superpowers. It was a lot of fun. But that and the Shrek games. I was obsessed with the Shrek games on the GameCube as well. The.
Speaker 3Shrek games are underrated. They are crazy good.
Speaker 2They were so good. I think it was the Shrek 2 game that I loved so much, because that's when they go to like the kingdom and stuff, like when they meet Fiona's father and everything and mom, yeah, that game there was like a party game that was a Shrek Loved that. And Mario Party Mario Party was always a good one. I didn't usually, I usually played by myself. That sounds so sad, but I had fun. I had a lot of fun with it. And now I would say, as far as video games, now I'm not playing too too much, besides when I stream, because I'm usually recording stuff or I'm taking naps or doing something not the most interesting in the world, or I'll be hanging outside with my chickens and stuff. So I would say repo is obviously a very big one. We've been playing me and Megan and our friends have been playing supermarket together and fast food simulator games where you just get to work a job without having to actually work a job. It's still just as intense, though. I'll tell you what we're yelling at each other. It's like we got to pick who's the manager, because this is not something's not working out, but that. And I used to play a lot of Overwatch and Overwatch 2. Once I switched to Overwatch 2, I was kind of I was a little rocky with that. I wasn't really sure how I felt about it. I'm still kind of, eh, and also it consumed my life a lot. So I'm like I think I need to step away, just take some time, because I'm spending too much time playing this game. Um, so right now it's it's mostly just games that I can play with my friends and have fun with. I have people telling me to play Baldur's Gate and actually start it.
Speaker 2I customized a character and my husband was the most disappointed I think I've ever seen in our relationship when he was like what class is your character? And I said you pick a class, like it was a fully customized character, and he's like, yeah, are you like a I don't know warlock? I'm not. I'm not big into this stuff and I'm like I don't know. And so he looks, he's like you picked a human and I'm like I don't know, I don't know what's going on. So I'm gonna eventually like redo that and actually make a character that maybe makes sense. But I know I'll get sucked into that because I know the romance options are going to be. You know, I'm going to be all over that kind of stuff. So we're bouncing all over the place with games at the moment.
Speaker 3No, it's so funny. We always have guests on there like I really love this Nintendo system and we were like we didn't have either one of those. I had a. Did you have a friend, eric, like me, that had the GameCube and we just didn't go to his house?
Speaker 2Honestly, I think.
Speaker 1I had. I think I had an N64 and a GameCube and a Game Boy, obviously, but outside of those, like no, we just weren't Nintendo guys and we still really aren't, we'll.
Speaker 3We'll go to like a place and if they have like mario card, of course we'll jump on it. But, like we we had this conversation recently with some friends like with nintendo consoles unless we're having hosting people to play those games like we don't really play them and that doesn't really happen when we're hosting, we're having a movie night or we're playing a card game you know, or something like that.
Speaker 3So, like the nintendo game isn't on our docket but, eric, now you can step aside, because sims simulation games are my thing I love sim games I have like 80 hours in tcg card shop simulator. I don't really play it as much anymore, but when it came out there was a pokemon mod so you could open a pokemon shop and I just played that all the time, totally, totally neglected my regular job. But my shop was great you really clocked in.
Speaker 3I really, really did a great job at the job. I cared about that, didn't pay me any money. What else is on my library? We have Ranch Simulator, which is okay. Yes, we played that one.
Speaker 2It's goofy because it's kind of not super perfected.
Speaker 3Schedule 1 is the big one that's been out recently but it's been a lot of fun. But when I pull up my wish list, eric was over the other day and saw my wish list and he was like man, our wish lists are way different. So I have liquor store simulator, pool cleaning simulator, thief simulator, which I do have the first one, that one's good Toy shop simulator, crime scene cleaner. I really want to get to that one and I really want to play fast food simulator with some friends.
Speaker 2They've just done some updates on that one. You should join us, we'll play. We'll play some fast food simulator Now they have you like filling up like the soda machine yourself and all that, and I'm like, okay, I'm sold.
Speaker 3I'm about it. Also, there's an escape simulator which is just an escape room, as opposed to just going to an escape room in person.
Speaker 2I think I've played that one. Maybe I'll play escape simulator. It was a good one. If it's the same one I'm thinking of, yeah, I liked it.
Speaker 3And then, like park builders, so like Jurassic World Evolution, I have a ton of hours in. I have two point museum in my wishlist like stuff that I want to try out, so yeah, so, eric, there we go. We both got our fill of things that neither one of us are interested in. Crazy, yeah, no.
Speaker 2You guys are going to start playing podcast simulator instead. Oh my, God Hold on, I can develop that.
Speaker 1I should develop that game. Oh my god, stop. Like a voice voiceover simulator. Yeah, I've been. I've been interested in simulator games. It's just like he does all of them. He does all the simulation games. It's too many. If he ever needs to like find a very specific niche job.
Speaker 2He's gonna have it on his resume. He's gonna be like I did like a hundred hours in crime scene investigator simulator.
Speaker 3Exactly, and they're all different somehow.
Speaker 2Exactly.
Comfort Activities and Musical Passions
Speaker 1Somehow, I guess so but as far as yeah, as far as like gaming and then cosplaying and voice acting, like you just mentioned, you got to fit some naps in there, like like it's obviously a really hectic schedule. What do you fit in Rue? That's like your comfort place, like your comfort place to go. When all of that is done, you're not doing the things that you need to do, the things you want to do. You want to watch something, read something. What have those things been for you? And that can be in general or just like so far this year well, naps are high on that list, but usually it's.
Speaker 2I play these. Really they're kind of dumb games on my phone. It's not anything cool like gotcha games or anything. It's literally those games that you see in an ad for another game. I end up getting sucked into those games. There's one called Two Dots that I played years ago and I redownloaded it again because it was an ad on a different game that was just filled with ads. So I am like addicted to playing those where it's like, literally you take like one turn and then it's like, oh, here's an ad, you take another turn, here's another ad. And I never pay to get rid of the ads either.
Speaker 2So I usually lay in bed and then I'll have one of my favorite YouTube channels of all time is Good Mythical Morning, and I'll just have Good Mythical Morning playing while I'm doing that and just like laying in bed. Or also I like to sing too, so like it's something that I'm working on, like trying to put out there more, but I love just kind of like singing in my room or I'll stand outside with the chickens and I'll sing. They don't like to listen, they they're on the other side of the yard, they don't care. So they're. You know, if I can impress them, that's a. That's a big feat, but definitely just like I like to to perform songs and stuff like Epic.
Speaker 2The musical has been, has taken over my life. Goodbye, phil, see you later, phil. See you later, phil. You know who got me into it Megan. Megan got me into it. She's like you need to listen to this, and so I did, and then I'm listening through and just bawling my eyes out. It's like it's whatever. So I just like sing that around my house all the time. What else do I Like? That's it.
Speaker 3This isn't too unlike what we do, eric, minus chickens and actually there's a chicken that always shows up in my backyard like a neighborhood chicken. And my dog always chases it off.
Speaker 2It's a sign, though it enhances the experience. So much.
Speaker 1That's crazy. So, rue, we'll go off on that tangent really quick. So Epic the Musical. So, obviously, saga ended right at the end of last year. It's still probably going to destroy my Spotify wrapped because it's all I listened to this year. So what is your favorite song? And then what is your favorite Saga?
Speaker 2Okay, so I want to save my favorite character too. I like Polites.
Speaker 1Yeah, there we go, polites is my favorite character. That's unfortunate.
Speaker 2Rest in peace. I would have to say Poseidon has some good songs, I'll tell you that. But for a weird like one that I like is Charybdis, which is like in one, I think it's the Revenge Saga.
Speaker 1The Revenge Saga. Nobody talks about that one. It's so good.
Speaker 2Charybdis is such a good song. I like that. You know he's getting into this mode where he's fighting this big whirlpool monster and then he's finally seeing you know his home again and then you've got Poseidon just being like well, about to F you up real quick. So it's like I, I love. I would say like that saga is probably my favorite. Like I love 600 strike, I love um get in the water. Like I said, I love Poseidon stuff too. So it's probably that saga, is that? No, that's not the same one. I love them all. I love them all. I'm just like they're all great.
Speaker 2and then open arms is also one of my favorite songs, Like Pull a Tease is just ah, they cast everybody so well. So I'm kind of all over the place because it's hard to pick like one that I really like of each thing.
Speaker 1Yeah, I'm going through a full listen through again, because by the time this episode comes out, I will have either already done it or will be in the middle of doing an epic stream. Oh yeah, where I can. Anybody that wants to join that hasn't seen it before? Do the animatics.
Speaker 1Yes, with it, because there's a lot of really creative people who have put together animatics for it and I think it adds a little bit of appeal. If people don't want to just listen to it, yeah, so giving them that avenue and looking through. But my favorites, I've got to say I think characters, characters, is tough, because I really love all of them. I mean, odie is the main guy, obviously. Jorge, his voice, the way he's approached it creatively, it's hard not to love him. I do love Cersei though. Yeah, definitely love her. If I had to pick one that wasn't odysseus, I will say it's. It's tough to pick favorite song.
Speaker 1I think favorite saga is the thunder saga, oh that's also, that's just because there's a lot of my favorite like from suffering to different beasts mutiny was a really good one too.
Speaker 1Mutiny was good, nobody talks about grew on me. Nobody talks about Scylla, and Scylla is like so close to being number one. And then of course, you got Thunderbringer. But if I had to pick a favorite song, it's like really close. I really love Legendary, like I love Legendary so so much. But I also I've been listening to the Ithaca Saga so much this year.
Speaker 1I've been listening to the Ithaca saga so much this year and between the challenge and Hold them Down, they're both so different and so crazy good they are, despite how dark it gets in that last saga I know, I know, but I would say right now if I had to pick one Scylla's up there, legendary, and then it's probably a 1A, 1B with the challenge and hold them down Like I love those songs a lot.
Speaker 2I will say, like Just a man too. That one was the. I think that was the first song that I had ever heard anything from and it was on through TikTok and that one like I just really love, like how it kind of escalates and stuff. And then what really got me interested, interested was, um, oh gosh, why can I not think of the name Eclipso song? Love in paradise, Is that what it's called?
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2That was like all over Tik TOK and I was like this is really catchy. Maybe I will actually listen to it. And it's been same thing. My Spotify rap is going to be just that, and then probably the One Piece live action soundtrack.
Speaker 1Yeah, that's pretty much it and the edits go crazy with Epic. But yeah, phil, you can come back in. I guess Really what are you? Here for.
Speaker 3I was trying to boot up Pokemon Ruby Red, but my DS is dead because I haven't turned it on.
Speaker 1You should have come better prepared. I knew we were going to go on a one-piece. I mean, I have Clare Obscure on the other screen right now.
Speaker 3That's not true.
Speaker 3No, you just hear the speaking of music you just hear, then you would definitely hear me get distracted. Yeah, I definitely would. But, rue, I want to ask because you also do a lot of work with closing credits, you do some of the workouts and you're also about to host a boot camp. So I want to talk about, like you know, like you said just a few years ago you didn't know that like this could be a career you could even pursue, and now you've been, you're gracious enough to like share what you've learned so far with a lot of people like myself who are just now entering their voiceover journey.
Speaker 3So here is the obligatory lot of people like myself who are just now entering their voiceover journey. So here is the obligatory what kind of advice do you have to someone who is looking to get into voiceover, voice acting? You know what you know because everybody's journey is different, just like you've already talked about so far. Yours has been so different from you know, even Josh's. So what is that? You know that starting advice you have for somebody looking to get into this line of work you know that starting advice you have for somebody looking to get into this line of work.
Voice Acting Advice and Industry Insights
Speaker 2It's always like making sure you have a passion for it. First of all, because you're going to go through so many you know acceptances, rejections. I say that in quotes because you know you're not really rejected. You just weren't picked for a certain role. They can only pick one person most of the time, so it's not that they didn't like you, but it's just somebody else filled their expectations better than what your performance did. So it's having the passion for it and absolutely making sure that you have friends that are outside of voice acting that has helped me so much, because it's so great to have other voice acting friends. But you need to be able to separate yourself from it at times too, you know where. That's not what you're just talking about, because since we're, you know, most of us are remote, working from home, it really consumes us. You know we're like oh, I got to check my email, I got to check this notification, I got to go on Discord, I got to do this audition, I got to do this and this, so to kind of be able to step away from that completely, you know, even if it's just for an hour to hang and play simulator games or something you know it's just refreshing and it keeps that passion going because you're not just overwhelming yourself with the negative thoughts about it and also surround yourself with other people who are just loving you know, who care, who genuinely care for you and everything and being genuine yourself as well, because there are people that you know are maybe not the greatest that will use people as like stepping stones and stuff and it just doesn't feel good when you're on you know the other end of it and you're you know, you're like, oh, I thought we were friends and then they're gone or something. So just being a genuine friend to those that you have, either in voice acting or outside, will, just, you know, help you emotionally, help other people or outside will, just, you know, help you emotionally, help other people. So I know that's not like the most voice acting, like centric kind of advice, but if I were to give like a voice acting, advice is start off with, start small, you know, start within your budget for everything. Because I've seen people say things before like, oh, you need this, this and this to start up and it's like thousands of dollars and this and that this, what I have here, has taken me almost three years to get to where I'm at and it's just from, you know, accumulating funds from doing voice acting and everything.
Speaker 2I started off with a uh, the Rode PodMic. That was like the first mic that I had, so it's just a like $100 XLR mic and I was at my desk, my computer desk, and I had a big blanket over my head and that's all I had. I didn't have a booth, I didn't have anything like that, and I was able to get jobs from it. So it's a matter of working your way up and not setting the expectation of I have to be here at this point, because even something for me like getting into my dear friend Nocaton was like honestly the biggest dream, like that was such a cool experience to have. But I didn't really set a goal of like, oh, be in anime by this year or something. I was just like I think that'd be a cool thing to do someday. So that way it wasn't like a if I don't get it in a year, then I'm a failure, or if I don't do this in a year, I'm a failure. So it's know goals but not really having a deadline.
Speaker 2Considering. This is mostly a career. You know you're going to be in it for the long term, so you don't know what's going to happen throughout. You know the years and years and years of you practicing, auditioning and getting roles. Yeah, I think.
Speaker 2In total I've submitted, like you know, eight auditions and all of them, you know, like I didn't get picked. I ever came out either. So that's also like another thing. So it took 60 there. Last year I did 700 auditions and I got about 60 roles, which not all of them were from auditions either. Some were from, you know, people like friends and stuff, that were like hey, this person needs a voice for something, can you do it? But I mean, 60 out of 700 auditions is a great number. Like I'm very proud of that number. But even if it were only like 20 or something, you know, it's like just getting a role out of 700. It's like you just got to keep putting yourself out there and hoping that. You know you're what somebody wants and sometimes, you know you do get down on yourself too. You're like man, I didn't get that.
Speaker 2And then you see, like, like the same I thought I did really good on that, like I would have been perfect for that, yeah exactly, and a lot of the times, like you do kind of get put into, um, a little box of like you mostly do this kind of character and it's not really intentional.
Speaker 2But I've I've ended up with a lot of characters that are my personality, which I hope that doesn't mean I can't act, you know like, oh, you can't act as anything else, you can only play yourself. No, but I'm usually playing characters that are like teenagers and they're kind of angsty, but they also have like kind of a sweet side and stuff, and that's really like where most of my stuff is. I don't really branch out too much into like super mature characters and stuff, because there are other people who have voice prints that are more suited for that kind of stuff. I kind of have the more like youthful side of it, but I'm like, why am I not getting these roles? And it's just, you also listen to the person that did get it and you're like, ah, okay, I see, I see why they got it. Yeah.
Speaker 3And like Eric, for example, I didn't tell you this, but one of the things I put in for was like a true horror YouTube channel, which is like one of the podcasts I listen to the most. I was like I know exactly what they're looking for. I'm definitely going to hear back from them Nothing. So it's like I think people are really surprised and that's one thing that I really learned. Going through the closing credits class is like it's not, you know.
Speaker 3So many people I think will assume, oh, it's like anime or bus, but there's so many things like people in my class have been cast in someone's YouTube project, you know, or something along those lines. I'm like man, I didn't even think. Of course, those people that are the content creators will also need somebody to do voiceover for them. Like you don't even really think about it. So I really really love that answer and, to speak on just kind of as far as just where to start, that answer is very similar to podcasting.
Speaker 3We get a lot of questions where people are like, well, how do I start? And I think people are kind of blown away by how relatively simple it is to just get up and going, especially when you're early on, and just start somewhere, which I think is always a major key, and then also to speak on having those friends and having that community outside of voice acting. That's why I think all three of us can agree like having that convention community is huge. We have artist friends, we have voiceover friends, we have podcast friends, we have photographer friends and it's like this whole blend of people that are supporting you and it's very, very important.
Speaker 2So you know, go to more conventions.
Speaker 3That's what I'd say.
Speaker 2I mean one of my best friends right now. We met because she was making art of Sanji or no, she's making art of other One Piece characters on TikTok. And I said, are you planning on doing Sanji? And then she was like, oh, what outfit would you want to see him in? And then she was like, oh, what outfit would you want to see him in? And then we ended up in each other's DMs and we've been friends for like two years now and you know it's been great.
Speaker 2But again, she does a lot of like vending.
Speaker 2She's in Texas so she does a lot of like vendor stuff there.
Speaker 2So I'm like getting to know other artists and stuff that are over there and I'll be in Texas in July, so it's like I might get to meet some of them and it's like it's really cool to have that the con experience, just because you get people who are, who come from all different backgrounds of like, whether they're just fans of stuff or they're artists. You know they love to do the fan art, they aspire to be voice actors as well and they're just super interested. When they come up to you they're like, how do I get started in this? And I'm like, well, get a pen and paper out, because I'm about to start telling you where we can start with this. So it's always wonderful to be able to guest at a con. Even if you're just attending a con as a cosplayer or just an attendee, just make sure that you've got money in your wallet because you're going to spend money. You're going to spend a lot of money in the artist alley, or at least I do every time.
Speaker 3Sounds like that's her, Ivan Eric yeah.
Speaker 1Hi Ivan.
Speaker 3We all got to get it. We got to listen to this in July, because you're behind.
Speaker 1He's already talked to us at Bold and everything. Yeah, no, I definitely think being a part of the community in those convention experiences is important you mentioned, like the networking. I do want to take a step back into the roles that you've kind of had or either auditioned for, and I do want to ask something that you kind of mentioned. We like to bring up a lot of time with people in voice acting because we always hear this kind of like typecasting situation that can happen, which can be both a good thing and a bad thing, depending on the time, the situation and the role. I'm very curious if you are feeling like maybe there's a role you haven't gotten yet because of that, what would that role be like? You know you mentioned there are some more mature roles or like a mature needing voice, and you understood why they got that. But is there something within your skill set, within your interests, that you just haven't quite landed, that you would like to? And if there is one, what is it?
Speaker 2I would have to say like little, like little boy voices and stuff, because I, I mean, I don't really see too too many auditions for them too often, but usually just something that's like in the little boy like area or on the exact opposite side is like seductress. I love like those kinds of characters, you know, that are just trying to seduce them, usually like villains and stuff. I love those kinds of characters too. So I feel like both of those, cause it's like you've got teenage girl, which is where I'm usually at, and then you've got like the mature seductress and then you've got an eight-year-old boy. It's like the two other sides of the spectrum.
Speaker 1Complete opposite sides of the spectrum. You know what. You answered that beautifully, Phil. What is your dream role? Have you thought about that yet? Would you like to be an eight-year-old little boy?
Speaker 2I'm not going to answer that question. He was one at some point.
Speaker 3From experience. Who's going to land it first is the question.
Speaker 1Who's going to be you?
Speaker 3I'd be like Rue. I'm so sorry I landed the role of this child, eight-year-old.
Speaker 1It's going to be eight-year-old specifically.
Speaker 3I'll only go out for eight-year-old roles. Uh, you know, for me, you know it's always it's it's definitely going to be something villainous, because you know, you know you and I are huge fans of of those characters that can be a little bit more on the the morally gray side.
Speaker 2So that would be it for for sure for me yeah, yeah, love that yeah, I guess, for like a type of character too, not necessarily like the voice is just a character that you hate. That is such a good villain that you hate the character, but you have to love them too. And an example sorry, phil is doflamingo from one piece. Such a good villain, but I cannot stand him, but that's why I yeah yeah yeah, there's the bird thing again
Speaker 2but it's like a character like that, where it's just they do such like heinous things and they make such a good villain that you're just like, Ooh, I can't stand them. But God, they do villain stuff so good.
Speaker 3I know this guy. This is pink, muscular Eric. Stop what it's like it's fairly accurate.
Speaker 1I'm a little annoyed, yes, kind of kind of, but not really. But, phil, I know we have a couple of fun things planned here towards the end. Did you have any any final questions you wanted to ask Rue before we get to some of the fun stuff we have planned?
Speaker 3Yeah, I guess I do also have a fun question, because we were talking about you were discussing Disney earlier. We were discussing Disney earlier and I don't know if you've heard, but after the kind of like flop of Snow White, they've kind of like put a pause on all of these live action films. And the next one, I think that was on the docket Well, of course, lilo and Stitch is about to come out, but one of the ones that was on the docket that kind of got shelved is Tangled, and I think that's kind of a bummer because I think Tangled live action could work with the right casting. So how do you feel about that? Also, do you care for any of the Disney?
Speaker 2live actions. I always think that's just a fun conversation. I see I haven't seen too too many of them. I know I've seen Beauty and the Beast. There's got to be something else that I've seen that was live action.
Speaker 2No, I actually never saw the Lion King ones. I cause there's also like I know it's not Disney, but like how to train your dragons coming out For me I've been kind of like on the inside because animation is such an art in itself and it just kind of feels like we're going backwards and like trying to replicate something that was already like a really cool thing in the first place, when we can have like new stories and like new, because it's hard to replicate a one-to-one of, like you know, fantasy stuff and all that you can get close. But it's not always going to be exactly perfect because, like you said, it depends on the casting and everything. So as long as the cast, you know, can represent the characters, like that's cool and all. But I would prefer original stories, you know, if that makes sense, because, like I don't know, a lot of them do just seem kind of almost one-to-one of like the storyline and stuff and it's like just watch the animation at that point, you know, just watch the original. So I don't know they.
Disney Live Action Debate
Speaker 2I didn't see Snow White either. I've seen a lot, a lot of the discourse on it and everything. I think Tangled, tangled would have been a cool one to do too. I think it would have been interesting to see how they did like the I'm trying to think of the word for the like the big, like barbarians and stuff you know that are in there. I'm sure they could have like casted, that really cool like done maybe some cool um makeup and like prosthetics and stuff. Um, it would have been very interesting to see if they would have done a similar thing with rapunzel's hair as they do like in the animation you know, like mostly like cgi, it and stuff, because I mean that that's a lot of hair to to just have on a wig. Her neck would literally like be like this the whole time. So I think it would have been cool. But hopefully, if they do come up with it, hopefully they do it to the best of their ability with the best cast and everything.
Speaker 3All right. Well, obviously, eric, I pulled up some fan casts. Do we want to hear? Who do we think as Rapunzel? What do we think? Sabrina Carpenter I don't know about that one, not sure. Okay, flynn Rider. Fabian Frankel I don't know who that is. Anybody know who? That is no clue. Fabian Frankel Tangled oh, he's House of the Dragon. So Game of Thrones stuff, I don't know. All I know is they have-.
Speaker 2Sabrinaenter might be too short, Honestly she's very compact Like yeah. I don't know. Rapunzel reads like I think she's like five foot seven or something. I feel like the hair would just overtake Sabrina very aggressively.
Speaker 3Catriona Balfe as Mother Gothel Again a name I don't. I'm not familiar with. Dave Bautista as Hookhand OK it seems unnecessary unnecessary if you ask me.
Speaker 2Okay, okay, okay, I mean, I can see it.
Speaker 3This one has Florence Pugh as Rapunzel.
Speaker 2I can see that. I can see that.
Speaker 3Again, fabian Frankel also appears on this list. I don't know who that is. And then obviously, catherine Hahn as Mother Gothel right, that would probably be the the easiest win. Uh there, but yeah. But again, I just thought that could have been one of the ones that did work, as opposed to some of the other ones. Um, not only just because of the story, but also, like, I think, humor wise, they like maybe they could have done pretty well with it. But yeah, I don't know. I mean, the more and more I see the live action how to train Dragon, the more lifeless it looks every trailer and I'm like what are we doing here, man?
Speaker 2It just looks like they're just trying to do exactly what they did in the animation and I'm like I don't really need it and the animation is already perfect.
Speaker 3I think the first, how to Train your Dragon, is perfect.
Speaker 2Yeah, I need to rewatch it. It's funny because the live action coming out is making me want to re-watch the original animation. I'm like let me see that again or go to epic universe.
Speaker 3Definitely be watching that, yeah yes, I would love to go there but yeah, eric, you know, the live action disney thing is always uh interesting conversation but there's so much money in it. They're not going well. Maybe they're on pause for right now, but but I think they'll revisit it.
Speaker 2Let's rethink some things and we'll see where we go from here.
Speaker 1They'll be back. They'll be back. But yeah, we do have some fun games planned. A really fun game that we've only played like once, I think, on the show. I've also modified it a little bit. It's going to be anime centric and then we have a pop culture character draft. Both of these with the help of chat GPT today.
Speaker 3Will you?
Speaker 1also have this. No, no, I will be hosting because there's going to be a lot of like manual stuff. I will share my screen and see how this goes.
Speaker 3Oh, ok, I had it pulled up, but it's OK.
Speaker 1Yeah, Well, when we do the character draft, I'm going to have to do so many live edits anyway so I'm going to have to figure this out. But, yeah, I'm going to go ahead and share my entire screen and you guys should see an emoji, an emoji, an emoji, yes. So this is where we're going to go ahead and dive into our game. Now for this here, let me go ahead.
Speaker 3Can you hit? Stop sharing at the bottom.
Speaker 2I mean not stop sharing.
Speaker 3Not stop sharing, hide, let me stop, all right.
Speaker 1So there will be a series of emojis that will appear on the screen.
Speaker 3I understand this one now.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 3All you have to do here. We've seen like most of Naruto, so there's like no reason to watch it now.
Speaker 1Well. So I did change it a little bit from the actual um. I did change it from the way we play Cinemoji because it's so difficult to just figure out like emojis for the titles. So the way this is going to work is the emojis that are on the screen is going to describe the show. And I asked ChatGPT what are the easiest animes to determine just off of emojis. So I went off.
Speaker 3Those answers Couldn't you figure that out?
Speaker 1yourself. I could have, but I didn't want to. You wasted like nine bottles of water. You know what? I'm not going to be criticized, but what I will tell you is that I did try to pick the ones that are most known from this list. So they're fairly popular anime and, phil, you have seen a majority of these. Or you know them, okay, these are in your realm of these, or you know them, okay, these are these, these are in your realm, rue. Uh, as far as anime goes, how confident do you feel you might know some very frequently known anime in you know?
Speaker 2those circles.
Speaker 1Pretty good okay, I feel pretty good, awesome okay well then, we're gonna start off with our first one, and the way this is gonna work is just chime in with a guest, so you don't have to wait, you can shout out an answer. In fact, you want to shout it out before the other person.
Speaker 2So let's go to our first one Ratatouille.
Speaker 1Demon Slayer. Demon Slayer. All right, very good.
Speaker 3It is Demon.
Speaker 1Slayer, all right.
Speaker 3I saw the train.
Speaker 2That's what gave it away for some reason, not the demon, the train.
Speaker 1I wouldn't have put a train in there, so ChappyGBT knows what it's doing. Alright, here's going to be our second one, one piece.
Speaker 2Of all of them. I can't let you have that one.
Speaker 1I was like, please. I was like he can get this one.
Anime Emoji Game Challenge
Speaker 3Let's get the one piece, one out of the way you can get the other ones, it's fine. But that one's not acceptable, all right. Not to call out one of our previous guests, who is Jessica Kavanaugh, who was incredible. She plays Deku's mom in my Hero Academia.
Speaker 1And missed, missed the my Hero, and she could fail Almost. Almost Phil had to give it to her to be fair.
Speaker 3Oh, no, I was like Jessica, I'm going to give you a second and I was like this one was made for you. She still won, so it didn't matter.
Speaker 1Yeah, all right.
Speaker 2Our next one.
Speaker 3Oh, hold on, it's not Sword. Art Online no, I was going to say, oh, hold on, it's not sword art online. No, I was no. No, it is not solo leveling.
Speaker 1Damn, oh, okay, oh, okay, okay, oh gosh I will tell you what is the first and the third emoji to me make the most sense the first and the third make the most sense.
Speaker 3The first and the third Make the most sense.
Speaker 1Full Metal Alchemist no.
Speaker 2Reincarnated is something it has a slime.
Speaker 3No, it's usually a.
Speaker 1No, I will tell you this isa huge anime Crap. It is not currently running, but it also Attack on Titan. It is Attack on Titan.
Speaker 2Oh, okay, okay, I guess, just because it's sad.
Speaker 1I don't know. Alright, I think that's what is that.
Speaker 3Rue 2?
Speaker 12-1. Alright, let's go to our next one.
Speaker 3One Punch man.
Speaker 1No, not a bad guess.
Speaker 3Is that the stars, the planets, space Dandy.
Speaker 2Not Space Dandy. That would have been a bad guess. Is that the stars, the planets, space dandy.
Speaker 1Not space, dandy. That would have been a crazy poll.
Speaker 2Oh gosh, Interstellar Jujutsu.
Speaker 1Kaisen. It's not interstellar. No, not Jujutsu Kaisen.
Speaker 2What is this?
Speaker 1You're on the right path with fighting, but there's a lot more hints that are going to be way more out there than Jujutsu.
Speaker 3Fighting, saying words Explosion.
Speaker 1It's a huge shonen anime. It is a huge shonen anime.
Speaker 2It's not Bleach right.
Speaker 1It is not Bleach. Dragon Ball it is yes, dragon Ball Very good? Is yes, dragon Ball Very good, okay.
Speaker 2Okay, okay, okay.
Speaker 3Where's the dragon emoji.
Speaker 1Again, I didn't want to be blamed. All right, let's see how quickly our next one goes.
Speaker 3One Punch man no.
Speaker 2What Fire Force?
Speaker 1Oh, okay, this is taking so much longer? What?
Speaker 2Assassination Classroom no. Jojo's Bizarre Adventure no my.
Speaker 3Hero Academia.
Speaker 1My Hero Academia. We're just talking about it.
Speaker 3I was like look at the hero at the end.
Speaker 1Yeah, that's why I was like the hero. The hero. That's okay. That's okay, we're at 3-2. We still have quite a bit to go, so let's jump into our next one.
Speaker 3Sailor.
Speaker 1Moon.
Speaker 3Wow.
Speaker 1That was a good one. Did not see that coming. Sailor Moon, wow that was a good one.
Speaker 3Did not see that coming.
Speaker 1Sailor.
Speaker 2Moon, that was a good one.
Speaker 1All right, are we tied? We're tied 3-3, and we?
Speaker 2do have. I was taking it easy on him too. He's catching up.
Speaker 3We do have four more.
Speaker 1That's a good call actually we have four more All right ready, here we go.
Speaker 2Death Note here we go Death Note.
Speaker 1It is yes, death Note.
Speaker 3Very good, awesome All right, it was the apple. It was the apple.
Speaker 1Rue up by one Next one.
Speaker 2Assassination Classroom Fuck yes.
Speaker 1Yeah, it was Assassination, classroom All right, just barely, barely. Barely so, rue, you're up two. Phil can't tie it, but he'll have to get the next two. So the next one you get, you do win. And I didn't tell you the prize, because there is not one, but it is Dragon Race. Here we go for the next one. This one may be the hardest and it's the least known of every one of them.
Speaker 2But I did have to put it on here.
Speaker 1You're a Lion April. Okay, very good, you're a lion April. Okay very good, yes, very good, awesome, alright. Well then, this one's just for shits and giggles.
Speaker 2Kung Fu Panda.
Speaker 3Jujutsu Kaisen Stupid fucking bear hey leave Panda alone.
Speaker 2No.
Speaker 1Phil's not a huge fan of Jujutsu Kaisen.
Speaker 3Alright, let's go ahead here.
Speaker 1Thanks for playing and we'll jump into our next one. That went way better than I thought it would, alright. So for our next one, guys and I should have mentioned at the last one, if you're on our audio side, only visuals are going to help for the video side.
Speaker 3We tell them that, but no one's watching on YouTube, so it's okay, no, it's okay.
Speaker 1They like the audio.
Speaker 3We know what the download numbers are. It's fine, they like listening.
Speaker 1Alright, so let me go ahead and make sure I've got this in the right view. Uh, phil, I do have a wheel. Yeah, but I'm using that Sorry Act, right?
Speaker 3Well, we couldn't buy the Plinko board at Costco this weekend, so I guess we're sticking with the wheel. I guess we are, yeah.
Speaker 1I also used a different wheel, because the wheel of names would not stop giving me ads.
Speaker 3Oh yeah, it's pretty bad.
Speaker 1It's like really bad. So we're gonna see how this new wheel goes um, so I'm gonna share that first no, actually like I oh no, it's, it's just. It's just a normal, a normal one.
Speaker 3All right, here we go, like earth tones like the green one? I don't think. So what, we'll see. I know my wheels.
Speaker 2I can google a lot of wheels it's like how many wheels have you seen?
Speaker 1so. So I'm doing some finagling here to make this work. So as far as this yep, let's go hide. All right, so we've got our slots for the draft. So the way this is going to work is I am going to have a pool of characters I think it's 80 characters total across anime, TV movies and video games. Total across anime, TV movies and video games.
Speaker 1I asked ChatGPT what in those four categories, what were the 20 characters that people would most likely cosplay as? Okay, and that is how I came up with the characters. So you may know some, you may not, but I mean you should know a lot of them. We're going to draft for each role. So, Rue, the way this is going to work is we're going to spin the wheel. You'll see all the characters. You'll be assigned a character at random as you spin Each turn, you're going to have to assign them blindly to a role. So, as it goes on, it's going to get a little bit harder, but you have a captain, vice captain of your team, your tank, your healer, and then three support characters we're fighting both of you guys each other.
Pop Culture Character Draft Battle
Speaker 3Our teams are fighting each other. Yeah, and then we're gonna decide who would win who would win?
Speaker 1all right, so who has the better team?
Speaker 3so we have a wheel. I don't recognize this wheel. Yeah, no, not my wheel, not your wheel. I tried to let you know. I don't even know what the sound is.
Speaker 1I don't even think I shared a sound. Yeah, we're just going to say, spin that wheel.
Speaker 3We're not going to do that every time though. Right, Phil. No, we don't have to do that, we have to do it at least three, two, one.
Speaker 1And for this first one we're going to say spin that wheel. So we're going to say I'm going to count down three, two, one and then, in that cadence, spin that wheel.
Speaker 3You think that we want to be so specific about these instructions.
Speaker 1But we do All right Three, two, one Spin that wheel All right, let's see what we get. Who's going first? Phil's going to go first, okay.
Speaker 3I don't know what that is.
Speaker 1You've got a. Do we get a skip?
Speaker 3I'm not going to use a skip, but do we get one skip or no? You can get one skip, yeah, who is this? Oh Genshin.
Speaker 1Yeah, going to use a skip, but do we get one skip?
Speaker 3or no, you can get one skip.
Speaker 2Yeah, who is this? Oh, genshin Yep, genshin Impact, I know that character.
Speaker 1So Hu Tao is a playable character. That's not helpful. Great question, rue. How would you describe Hu Tao?
Speaker 2She's like a ghost character. She's a girl, but she's like a ghost, like a traditional folklore type of ghost.
Speaker 3Oh, okay, all right. Well, we'll just slot in a support character here.
Speaker 1All right, so we're going support for you, yep. All right, so we're going support and let's go ahead and update. This is where it's going to get really tricky.
Speaker 3That's why you got the two screens. You got this.
Speaker 1You know what? Yeah, no, I hear that. And here we are, you're doing support.
Speaker 3Yeah, we'll do support.
Speaker 1All right. So we've got that removed and we've got our wheel. So for our next spin again, we're not doing spin that wheel every single time.
Speaker 3Just make it short, right? Yes, yes, just spin them. You can just spin it now.
Speaker 1Cool, cool, all right. So let's go ahead and do a spin and let's see what we land on.
Speaker 3Oh, interesting.
Speaker 1Edward Scissorhands. All right, so let me go ahead here and let me, let me show you the uh, the actual look here, and where would you want to put edward scissorhands?
Speaker 2well, I wouldn't want him as a healer. I feel like that'd be a little counterproductive hold, still hold, still probably I feel like he'd be a support counterproductive. Hold still, hold still. Probably, I feel like he'd be a support He'd have to be a support yeah.
Speaker 1It's totally fair. We're going to oh oh. Oh Live edits, live edits. There we go. All right, we've got him. That's the only picture I can find. That can't be true. All.
Speaker 3Are we doing snake, or is this my turn? It's your turn, okay? Yeah, we'll go back Geralt's. Okay. I feel pretty good, I'm going to make Geralt my captain. I'm okay with this.
Speaker 2Yeah, I mean that's what I probably would have said too.
Speaker 3Yep, yep, yep.
Speaker 1I mean, it's not a bad choice at all, not a bad choice. So let's go to Phil's here, let's lock them in and lock them in. Okay, so we've got. We'll do the Henry Cavill version as well, just to make you that works, make you happy. Alright, let's go Captain in place and we'll go to the wheel.
Speaker 3I was hoping to be, the tub picture. But that's fine, that's okay.
Speaker 2Tub picture.
Speaker 1He's in the tub. Alright, let's jump back into it, okay, oh my God, spider-man.
Speaker 2Come on, oh, spider-man, okay.
Speaker 1It didn't clarify, so you can have your pick of Spider-Man.
Speaker 3From the Spider-Man series. Spider-man from the Spider-Man series.
Speaker 2in case the listening audience wants to know yeah, I'm going to say it's from Spider-Man 2.
Speaker 1Oh yeah, Okay yeah, Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man.
Speaker 2Yeah, yeah, yeah, mostly because I think Doc Ock is fine in that movie.
Speaker 1You know what? I'm not going to argue with you on that one. No, let's see.
Speaker 2For mine he's got to be. I'm going to put I'm going to have to do vice captain for that one.
Speaker 3That's what I was thinking as well.
Speaker 1You're waiting for Luffy, I know it.
Speaker 2Well, he listened. I wouldn't be wrong. You're right, you're 100% right.
Speaker 3I hope I get him and I can skip him. So he's removed from the wheel. No, no.
Speaker 1Crazy You're him so he's removed from the wheel. No, you're horrible you're horrible.
Speaker 3You're horrible. Push the boost the last witch. Take a shot a shot all right.
Speaker 1Next spin let's see what Phil gets almost.
Speaker 2Zorro, that would.
Speaker 1That would have been tragic for me yeah, you're getting all the characters that you I know for sure you don't know.
Speaker 3I mean, I know Nier. Is this the main character in Nier Automata? Okay, yeah. Yeah, this is a good support character. We'll go support.
Speaker 1You go with support there, okay. So we're going support and we're going man. What picture am I going to pick here? What?
Speaker 3type of game is Nier Automata. Is that like a? I know it's very combat heavy, but like what kind?
Speaker 2I just see a lot of cosplays of her, yeah.
Speaker 3It always looks really cool, I mean whenever I see gameplay. But I'm like, that looks hard.
Speaker 1I mean you're playing Clare Obscure now. So like I don't know, that's true.
Speaker 3Maybe it's similar, that is true.
Speaker 1Gotta re-fix that. All right, cool, that is the most appropriate picture I could find. Good call, good call.
Speaker 2Not surprised Not surprised All right here we go.
Speaker 1We're back to Rue To be.
Speaker 3Okay, oh my.
Speaker 2God, okay, okay, okay, oh, my God, okay Okay. I don't know too much about this. I know the character. I don't know too much about it, so now will I pick a correct spot for her is the question.
Speaker 1So let's take a look. So you've got a pretty good spot here. Now I mean I would say, if you're asking me, I mean tank or healer is probably the way to go. Oh yeah, I didn't even think about healer.
Speaker 2So I mean healers are hard. Healers are hard.
Speaker 1Healers are hard to find.
Speaker 2I think I'm going to do healer, because that was before. You said that I was like that might be where she'd go.
Speaker 1Yep Healers are hard to find.
Speaker 3I would have put her in a tank, but yeah, that also works.
Speaker 2You could also find a good tank, yeah because I saw some good tanks on there that I'm like. I hope.
Speaker 1Yeah, no, that's a good call, I'm going to get like Barney the.
Speaker 2Dinosaur or something.
Speaker 3There are a lot of Barney cosplays.
Speaker 1There can be, Phil. Let's see what you end up with.
Speaker 3Oh wow but he just just in case. I almost spoiled something.
Speaker 2But like I was like don't you dare.
Speaker 3He's just a guy. He's not very good at what he does. Um, we're gonna. We're gonna skip Joel. I'm'm sorry. I love joel, are you for real? What is he gonna do against spider-man and wanda maximoff?
Speaker 2I don't know. I probably would have put him as vice captain if I were you, but that's just me, that's crazy, really okay, so we're so this is joel, but I'm going to skip.
Speaker 1This is where, well, you do have a good captain, but you're telling Look at this face, like you're telling me.
Speaker 3What do I put Pedro there?
Speaker 1No, but look at this face. Like you're telling me he wouldn't, he wouldn't Once it loads. Like you're telling me this guy can't be a good vice captain. Come on, man, I trust him. Come on, I don't.
Speaker 2I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't. I don't, I don't know. Yeah, this is another one. You don't know, she's the orange-haired girl from it.
Speaker 3What's her power?
Speaker 2She's spicy. She's in an Ava unit. She's a mech pilot.
Speaker 1Oh, okay. Yeah, I would say you could get the mech with her, okay.
Speaker 2Yeah, I think that's fair, Yep.
Speaker 3Yeah, I think that's fair. What is the what's the mech? Look like it's a.
Speaker 1Evangelion Unit 2. Okay, this is kind of cool.
Speaker 3Alright, is she just a really good pilot, or does she also have powers?
Speaker 2No, she's just a really good pilot.
Speaker 1Because of childhood trauma, she has developed a competitive and outgoing character.
Speaker 3Oh yeah, childhood trauma, childhood trauma. Yeah, she's going to be super strong Tank.
Speaker 1Let's put the mecha tank All right, so we're going tank here.
Speaker 2I feel like that only makes sense.
Speaker 1But the childhood trauma Okay.
Speaker 3Yeah, the trauma is what put it over the top. Yeah, that's pretty fair. Okay, yeah, the trauma is what put it over the top.
Speaker 1Yeah, that's pretty fair. Okay, well, we'll go ahead and do tank then for you, and then we will jump into.
Speaker 3Asuka, soryu, our next one. All right, is that how you pronounce Soryu? Yes, soryu.
Speaker 1Okay, all right, let's go ahead and go to Rue. Remember, rue, you do have a skip if you so need it. Oh my God, your team is the Avengers. Her team is the Avengers. What the fuck is this? So, rue, I will reveal and show you back your team, although I think this might be the quickest one. What is Edward even doing here?
Speaker 2This is nuts. I forgot Spider-Man's there.
Speaker 1This is insane.
Speaker 2But in all actuality, though, is it an easy pick of where he goes.
Speaker 1Rue if you don't pick Tank.
Speaker 3But older Thor is a really good leader.
Speaker 2That's what I'm saying. I'm like I don't know, or you put him in support.
Speaker 1Come on now. At this rate you're probably going to get like Iron man. You know what I mean.
Speaker 2No.
Speaker 1I think Luffy's going to join the Avengers.
Speaker 2We're going to get Luffy, so yeah, we'll put him as tank.
Speaker 3We'll save the captain spot. This is a Marvel Rivals theme. Edward speed, edward Scissorhands is just Wolverine. She literally has a Marvel Rivals loadout.
Speaker 1That is wild, actually, kind of crazy.
Speaker 3I'm going to get Softy McNo one from some anime that I don't watch. Okay, okay there we go. Oh, he took.
Speaker 1Iron man? No way, honestly, the fact that you used up your captain spot, though, is kind of.
Speaker 3That's okay, I still know I'm still good with Geralt. No, we'll put him as vice yeah.
Speaker 2That is wild. You just said Iron man too, yeah.
Speaker 1I know this healer is going to be tough. If he's going to work well, mean there's nowhere else to put him.
Speaker 3I mean he made the argument that he was. He alternated with Cap quite a bit as far as who was in charge.
Speaker 1so yeah, but you know, towards the end.
Speaker 2I mean, isn't he? Like you know super techie and like, there's the tank that has all the parts.
Speaker 3Oh yeah, there you go, she's going to give him yeah, he's going to give her a new it's actually pretty legit.
Speaker 1Well, you need some help here. All right, okay.
Speaker 2Dagon loves this show and I still haven't seen it.
Speaker 3I watched the first season. That's just too much of a commitment. I'll be honest.
Speaker 1What does he do? How would you summarize D?
Speaker 3He has all of his abilities. It's not like he's. It all has to do with the paranormal.
Speaker 2So if you're not fighting demons or wendigo or ghosts or anything like, that I don't know how much, how much out of the faith of megan, just absolutely hounding me about the show. I cannot skip him, so I'm gonna have to do support.
Speaker 3She would actually she'd execute me dean and joel just punching each other while everyone else is having like a super powered fight and those two guys are just hitting each other. Actually, they'd probably get along really well so probably. They'd probably just like have a beer and watch the fight. But supernatural is really good. It's again with. With that there's just too many and that show you know episodes. We're talking about 45 minute commitments.
Speaker 1Right.
Speaker 3Instead of a 30 minute. You know show so yeah. All right. Is that is Dustin the kid from Stranger Things.
Speaker 2Yes, possibly.
Speaker 3Oh my oh, no, ain't no way. Oh my God, oh God, I thought I spoke it into existence.
Speaker 2Okay, oh, that's unfortunate. So, phil, here's your team, okay?
Speaker 3um well, deadpool can heal himself but I don't think he heals other people, so I'll put him at support oh man, I can't wait to see who and he also had that. Yeah, he had that cameo with um, uh, with what's his name, uh, with gerald. Why am I thinking, why am I not thinking of the name of the actor, henry cavill, in the movie? So he also had that cameo with what's his name, with Geralt. Why am I not thinking of the?
Speaker 1name of the actor.
Speaker 3Henry Cavill in the movie. So yeah, there you go.
Speaker 2Your healer is going to be Dustin. Just wait.
Speaker 3It's going to be something bad. The healer is always tough.
Speaker 1It's usually a make or break, honestly, the way it goes. All right, rue, we got you back back. You have one support and one captain to fill.
Speaker 3No way, this is nuts, this is absolutely nuts okay, um, just a person.
Speaker 1Huh, let's just have your skip you also have your skip and you, I mean you could kind of afford to use it honestly.
Speaker 3I see you want to fill out the adventures.
Speaker 2I almost want to do it for the meme, but I think I think I will skip this one. I want to get something out of it, out of that what do you have?
Speaker 1tank and support yeah, so this is a ruse team, as a reminder oh no, you have to have captain and support oh okay, captain's gonna be.
Speaker 3Oh, that one's, dean. I thought Dean was the other one.
Speaker 2That's Sam.
Speaker 3Sam.
Speaker 1Yeah no we can do it, we can do a respin, let's go for it.
Speaker 2Yeah, let's do a respin. Oh gosh.
Speaker 1I almost got Luffy. That was so close.
Speaker 2Okay, Luigi's going support. I'm leaving my captain up to complete chance at this point.
Speaker 1Man, that would have been crazy on a reroll. Ah, that would have been so good. Yeah, all right. Now this is going to take a moment, because whenever I get Luigi, I have to specifically pick the one for Luigi Mansion.
Speaker 3Yeah, he's going to pick Luigi's Mansion, luigi.
Speaker 1Here we go. Yep, there we go, alright.
Speaker 2But like him and Dean, though that's, if there's paranormal stuff going on, we got that covered.
Speaker 3Yeah, but I don't have any paranormal people on my team I said, if this isn't related, yeah, but we're fighting each other.
Speaker 2Yeah, no, but I'm talking about they have a side job. Don't worry about the fight. Look at that face.
Speaker 1Side job. Who wouldn't trust that face yeah.
Speaker 2Yeah, yeah For sure, for sure?
Speaker 1Okay, let's remove them.
Speaker 3Oh crap.
Speaker 1Phil, this is.
Speaker 3Are there any healers on here?
Speaker 1I mean maybe we're about to find out, oh.
Speaker 2Oh, let's go. No, sailor moon come on.
Speaker 1Okay well, phil. So I mean feels good feels good man, I almost got sam I mean, does she uh, does she heal yeah?
Speaker 3can Sure Sailor Moon's probably nurturing. He doesn't even know, he's just like yeah, I just felt good about getting Sailor Moon. Look, I could have gotten Dustin from Stranger Things, so I'm just happy about getting a good character.
Speaker 1Okay, so, Phil, this is your squad. I feel good. That's actually a pretty good squad. I feel really good really magical. Which is crazy, because I know for a fact you don't know like three quarters of these characters.
Speaker 2Wait, hu Tao is a ghost girl and I've got two guys that go against ghosts. Oh, no Shit.
Speaker 1That's unfortunate, that is crazy. Okay, he's on here Okay.
Speaker 3I see some bad captains on here, so yeah.
Speaker 2Mine won't be bad, don't worry, it's going to be a Marvel character, so Mine won't be bad.
Speaker 1Don't worry, it's gonna be a Marvel character.
Speaker 2so this is our spin.
Speaker 3John Snow.
Speaker 1I don't know anything about him. That's like a pretty good captain to get.
Speaker 2Solid.
Speaker 1That's a pretty good captain to get. So yeah, we're gonna look at Rue's team now. And yeah, Rue, I'm not going to lie, Captain, if you weren't going to get Luffy, I mean Jon Snow's pretty good People will fight behind him, Okay good. A little Game of Thrones action.
Speaker 3The Game of Thrones characters have powers, or is it just political? Intrigue like political power. It's hard to explain that Most of them don't have powers. Or is it just political intrigue Like political?
Speaker 1power. It's hard to explain that Most of them don't have powers.
Speaker 3It feels like Jon Snow and Geralt could have some sort of crossover event.
Speaker 2Oh for sure, yeah, if they're not following him, they're going to follow Spider-Man. That's why he's vice captain.
Speaker 3It's like if Jon Snow if they don't listen to him. Yeah, because Spider-Man, wanda and Thor are going to be flying and Jon Snow will just be like I'll be right there, he'll be pointing. Dean will at least be in the cool car.
Speaker 2Him and Luigi are on Ghostbusters. They'll be on the car, they'll be in the car together and then I don't know what Edward Scissorhands is going to be doing.
Speaker 1He's giving haircuts. Let's go back and forth and see what decision is going to be made here.
Speaker 3So Phil, here is your team.
Speaker 1You want to read it out for the audience. Yeah, yeah, so you got Geralt Geralt, is that who? You said Geralt Geralt From the Witcher series as Captain, iron man as co-captain. You've got that chick from Evon Asuka, you've got Sailor Moon. So as the tank, you've got the Sailor Moon. As healer, you got some ghost girl from Genshin as support.
Speaker 1Hu Tao, you've got her 2B, 2b. You're doing great with us. I love it. Deadpool as support as well, uh, but that doesn't really matter because uh ruse got john snow as captain, spider-man as vice captain, thor's tank, wanda maximoff as healer, uh, edward scissorhands as support, dean from Supernatural as support and Luigi as support.
Speaker 3What does the Dean cosplay look like? Just for a second. It's just a guy. It's just a guy. Yeah, that's just a Wolverine cosplay with no mutton chops and no claws.
Speaker 1That's.
Speaker 3Dean yeah.
Speaker 1Yeah, I will call out some other notable ones here after we've chosen a winner. But Phil, I think we both know who won here.
Speaker 3Yes, I will take my victory. The Wanda thing honestly, the Wanda alone of it is kind of like it kind of wipes everything else out.
Speaker 2Yeah, because isn't she like really powerful?
Speaker 3Yeah, I mean.
Speaker 1She's like beating Thanos in the comics. I would say Captain and Vice Captain are pretty much a toss-up for both teams right.
Speaker 3It came down to Tank and Healer.
Speaker 1Tank and Healer and even Tank, you could kind of say, because it's a mech maybe.
Speaker 2Can't Thor put his hammer on the mech and then it can't get up? Okay, well, never mind.
Speaker 1Yeah, no, that's a great point and then I think, support-wise.
Speaker 2Again, Ghostbusters versus the Ghost Girl. Come on, yeah, for sure.
Speaker 1Although none of them To me it's powerful.
Speaker 3I'm pretty sure I don't think Edward Scissorhands is a combat main, so maybe support you win there, phil. Yeah, I think Deadpool absolutely kills Edward Scissorhands immediately. And probably Luigi. If we're being honest, he might kill all three support characters.
Speaker 1Well, here's our winning team. Congratulations, Rue Great job.
Speaker 2And without getting Luffy although we were so close. What were the chances?
Speaker 1of that.
Speaker 3Like two thirds of the Avengers Endgame cast.
Speaker 2I almost had Black Widow too.
Speaker 1if I didn't skip her, I will tell you looking at this now, there are a ton of superhero characters. The first 13 slots are superhero characters from movies, and then it's Elsa, anna, jack, skellington Trinity and Neo from the matrix, and then the bride from kill bill.
Speaker 3I don't understand, you could have. You could have individually selected characters, you know.
Speaker 1No, I know, but these are the ones that chat GBT.
Speaker 3Yeah, but no, you could have done it.
Speaker 1There were also a. Here were a couple other characters in the anime bracket. Obviously you had Deku Todoroki, bakugo, zero Two from Darling in the Franxx Luffy Zoro from One Piece. We also had Goku in there as well. Levi Amikasa Ackerman. You had Nezuko and Tanjiro. From Demon Slayer, you had Naruto in there. From the TV show side, you had Eleven in there.
Speaker 3Well, at least she's got powers unlike Dustin.
Speaker 1Dustin was in there. Yeah, Dustin was in there. You had She-Ra in there. You had Raven and Robin from Teen Titans.
Speaker 3Go, those would have been good.
Speaker 1From Go, yeah, from Go. That's where Wanda came from. Wanda for WandaVision Vision was also in there. Homelander was in here.
Speaker 3Oh, Captain.
Speaker 1And then video game characters. You had Jinx from League of Legends. You had Link in Zelda Lara Croft. That's where the Witcher came in. You had Link and Zelda Laura Croft that's where the Witcher came in. You had Mario and Luigi. You had Joel and Ellie. Princess Peach in here yeah, not much help against that Tracer from Overwatch. Yeah.
Speaker 3Was DVa in there.
Speaker 1I saw DVa. Dva was in there, yep. So yeah, a couple notable ones, but yeah, that's what we had. So yeah, a couple of notable ones, but yeah, that's what we had. And, phil, I think you lost fair and square. If you ask me, I don't know that's not my wheel.
Speaker 3You shouldn't have skipped.
Speaker 2Joel, it's not my wheel.
Speaker 3I disagree.
Speaker 2Joel would have taken you to the top.
Speaker 3Wait, who did I end up with? Oh, deadpool, didn't I? Get Deadpool instead of Joel.
Speaker 1Yes, yeah, that was good stuff, yeah, but fun stuff, I suppose, so close well, this was a whole lot of fun, rue.
Speaker 3Uh, we thank you so much for the time here this evening, like you said, especially amongst your busy, busy schedule. We hope to see you at some conventions here down the road. And, uh, eric, you know, actually I recently I threw out an idea for maybe not this year's Bold Matsuri, but maybe another convention down the road as far as a project that I think I want to try out. And, rue, I think you will be really perfect for that. So we'll talk a little bit off the air. Maybe the Patreon team will get to hear about what that idea is. But before we get out of here for the evening, once again, if you could please let everybody know where they can find you and all your work, as well as anything else you're working on, before we wrap up.
Speaker 1And I'd also mentioned Rue that this episode is going to drop at the end of May, so anything after that. So if you have a con next weekend, this episode will not be up by then. So I forgot to mention that earlier.
Speaker 2Oh no, will not be out by then, so I forgot to mention that earlier. Oh no, you're good. So you can find me on. All my socials are at RooRiderVA just my name and then VA. At the end I have my website, rooridercom. And then something that we just worked on was me and Sarah Bae and Trina, the main four from my Dear Friend Nocaton we just dropped the English four from my Dear Friend no Katan we just dropped the English cover of my Dear Friend no Katan's opening on YouTube, which is also RooRiderVA. So if you guys wanted to check that out, that was a whole lot of fun to do. I do have MizuKan, which at this point I will have had MizuKan when this comes out and I had a great time. I'm projecting that and, uh, I will be at finn con in miami in june, delta h in houston in july and then some other cons kind of sporadically throughout the year. So I'll be kind of all over the place, mostly in florida, though awesome.
Speaker 1We love to hear it rue and, honestly, we really appreciate you being able to come on. We can't wait to get the rest of the no Catan cast on as well, so it's going to be very, very exciting. But, phil, this is our time. Yeah, I don't know what happened there.
Speaker 3I don't know what happened either. I could not hear anything, so did anything.
Speaker 1I say come through, yeah, okay, oh yeah, good, yeah, well, before Phil finds a way to technically ruin the last of the episode and we have to rerecord the whole thing.
Speaker 3Phil yeah, let's take it from the top. Let's start with the wheel. No, I want one. No, no.
Speaker 1Rue one, fair and square. But, phil, if you want to let everybody know the spiel at the end, here we'll wrap up this episode.
Speaker 3Yeah for sure, once again, for anything that you need that Rue mentioned will be in the show notes of this episode, which is also where you can find anything Wait For it podcast related.
Speaker 3So if you want to keep up with the show and any previous episodes of Creator Spotlight, you can head on over to Spotify, apple Podcasts, literally anywhere you find your podcast, which is also where you can leave us a five star review, thumbs up, a plus. Whatever it is that that podcast app does. It is so beneficial to the show and we appreciate those of you that have done so already. If you want to keep up with us on social media, the most important ones will be Instagram, tiktok, our thriving Discord channel, as well as we are streaming a lot over on Twitch, which has been a whole lot of fun, and you can also just share the content. Tag us, tag Rue let everybody know that you listened and you enjoyed the show. All of that goes a very, very long way, but if you find yourself wanting some additional perks and maybe getting episodes even earlier than you do now, eric will let you know a little bit more about that.
Speaker 1Yeah. So, of course, with the WayForward podcast, we release episodes weekly, but for our Patreon members, we're doing a lot more than that. In addition to behind the scenes and early access to episodes like this one, they are getting other bonus content, including their own month, which just passed here in april patreon month, and we're already figuring out another month this year for them to be able to pick the content that we consume and talk about on the podcast. So a lot of great perks and more. Bold.
Speaker 1Matsuri is right around the corner and we've already started vlogging some of our experiences Last March at Collective Con. We continue and plan to continue to do the same here. So a lot of great perks in being a patron, thanks to our current patrons, which are Stefan Breyer, t3, kato, vintage Macaroni, corey from the World is my Burrito, and Nick Casbaro, the author of the Vidularium series. We appreciate each and every one of you for your support and if you could join them, that's great, but all the free stuff that Phil mentioned is also appreciated and it goes a long way. Thank you, guys, so much for listening to this episode. My name is Mr Eric Almighty. That is my co-host, phil the Filipino and our guest, rue Ryder, and please don't forget, we release new episodes every Wednesday for the podcast and all you have to do is wait for it.
Speaker 3This is the Wait For it Podcast.
