So, hemorrhages. Hemorrhages. Hello, everybody. Welcome to the Wait For Podcast Twitch stream and the seventh annual Super Bracket Bros Cinematic Universe holiday special. We are doing this on Twitch for the very first time. So hello to any of our Twitch audience that may join us here this evening. As you can see, we are joined by some friends. A couple people are missing, and we will call them out individually here as we go on throughout the episode. But Eric, very excited for this kind of like experimental foray into the holiday special. And we're also doing something a little bit different from a bracket. There'll still be some competition, but uh no bracket this year.

Let's start with our Tony Stark, the Tony Stark of our group, uh, who is typically hosting this, but he's got a lot going on, and we have we have graciously uh taken uh as as great hosts that we are, as we have taken this responsibility from him. However, he is still the anchor being of the SBBCU, hence why he is our Tony Stark. Jay from Super Bracket Bros. Jay, it is really good to see you. How are you doing here tonight? And are you excited for at first to like switch things up a little bit for the holiday special?
SPEAKER_07:No, I mean I'm super happy that this is happening at all. It's very nice to see all of you um in any format, and I'm very excited to hang out tonight. Um, you know, and uh yeah, like been been very busy, not able to host myself, not able to record and edit and you know, get 12 people together to you know, to and like work on all those audio tracks at the same time. So I appreciate that we're still able still able to do this in some format and get together with like like you said, the you know, this is this is the podcast, this is the pod fan, right? So um happy to be here, happy to see you guys.
SPEAKER_03:Do you want to uh give a uh uh either some sort of statement as to why Eli is not here? Because we presume he is at the North Pole.
SPEAKER_07:Yeah, no, um I heard uh through the grapevine that uh Eli was required back by his father Santa, as is the lore that we've established on the holiday special. Um, that um he they they needed a little bit extra help. Um I I think that um yeah, he was particularly needed to put the tiny wheels on all of the wood uh trains. I think that was his job that he was gonna be doing.
SPEAKER_05:That dexterity.

SPEAKER_02:I I moved to Florida. That's something that uh so that is a big reason why uh friendly neighborhood gamers is taking a break. Um so and probably is done. Um but uh so yeah, that's something I did uh to this year. Um and then most of the other stuff that I've been like doing or watching this year is not from this year. Um I saw Sinners and I saw uh what's the one with Leonardo DiCaprio? One battle after another. All of them? Those were good. But I've been just like re-watching the X-Files and Twin Peaks, so like we saw we watched Jaws in theaters.
SPEAKER_03:Oh yeah, we do watch Jaws. Yeah. They re-released Jaws this year in theaters. That was a good time. Great film.

SPEAKER_05:Um I've been uh listening to a lot of audiobooks this year because despite, you know, uh loving a physical book, it just Who's got the time? Um so really getting into audiobooks, and I I found a really cool series that I've started. Uh the first one is called Assistant to the Villain. It's by Hannah Nicole Merrill, and um I really like it. It's it's really good. There's three out already. There's another one coming this coming year. It's about a woman who um basically just like runs into like the villain of their town and asks him for a job because she lost her job that same day and has to provide for her family. So she's like his secretary, b literally his assistant. And um, romance ensues, but um, it's actually a very fascinating like fantasy plot and stuff. So I I really enjoyed them so far. Fun. Very nice.
SPEAKER_06:I keep seeing those ones in bookstores. They're really good. Okay. You should read them. Get them out.
SPEAKER_05:And they're like they're quick. Like it's a light, it's a fast read. At least listening to it was, I'm sure reading it would be as well. Yeah. It's like not exactly cozy fantasy, but it it's good.

So like an audiobook was like I did that this year with um the new Hunger Games book, and then of course, um, and then I re I listened to Project Hail Mary, which is the film coming out in the beginning of next year. It was so good.

SPEAKER_03:Yep. Yep, yep, yep, yep. Uh let's see, what do I want to highlight? I guess I'll just pick I'll pick a movie since uh that is what I've watched the most this year. Let's see. Oh, you know what, Eric? Let's talk about this. Let's talk about a film that came out recently. It's called Eternity, and it has Elizabeth Olsen, Miles Teller, and Callum Turner. And it's awesome. It is the premise of the film is so Miles Teller's character passes away, and then you when you die, you go to kind of like a train station-like area where you get to pick whatever your eternity is going to be, but you only get to pick one place. So you get to do beach eternity or mountains eternity or uh, you know, whatever it is that you you want to do, you that's where you're gonna spend the rest of your afterlife. So Miles Teller passes away before his wife Elizabeth Olson, and he is gonna go, uh he he tries to wait for her an extra week because she is also terminal, and he knows that she's gonna show up pretty sooner or later. She does show up, and it turns out that also her first husband, who died when they were in their 20s, is has been waiting for her for 60 something years in the terminal, and she has to make a choice between Miles Teller and Callum Turner, who I was not really familiar with, Callum Turner. That is a handsome son of a bitch, man. I would have a very difficult time picking uh Miles Teller over Callum Turner, but a really great movie. We saw it very recently, it's one of my favorites of the year. Um, and I know Eric really enjoyed it too. So I'll do that because that's fresh on my mind. It was really good. Really, really good movie. Um Jay, what about you? You watched a lot of movies this year. I'm I keep up with your your letterbox. You're gonna highlight a movie or something else?
SPEAKER_07:I was thinking I did just pull up letterbox just because I wanted to see what you rated Eternity, because it's also on my watch list, so it is uh a movie that I also want to check out. But what was um on my brain though, something that I don't get to talk about a lot, um, is Magic the Gathering. Um I've been like fully, I've fully nosedived into it this year. I got into it last year, you know, dipped my toes into it, you know, as the new sets were coming out. Um, but this year I've kept up with every single set I've gone to every single pre-release um, you know, that that has come out, and um I'm enjoying the heck out of it. Uh, you know, there's a lot of complaining on the internet about magic and that it's you know including too many outside IPs, you know, universes beyond, they call it. Um, you know, but they just released an avatar The Last Airbender set, which was awesome. Um now, am I probably gonna skip the Teenage Mute Ninja Turtles set next year? Maybe, you know. Um, but uh it's still it's a good time. I've um yeah, it's uh I definitely like if you if you've been out of magic for a while, which many people have, um, you know, it's a it's a good time to get back in because they're making fun sets, even if like, you know, you're not into whatever particular like IP they're using these days. So yeah, it's a good time.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, Magic was one of the things you highlighted. You were our guest for the Foresight episode for 2025, I've uh if I recall correctly, and yeah, that was one of the things that you highlighted because you had gotten back into it. Did you ever come across uh as for a collector's piece any of those Jurassic cards?
SPEAKER_07:Yes, I've been slowly picking them up. I my instead of just like you know, sending an order online and then receiving them all in the mail, I'm trying to pick them up as I see them in person. Um, it's coming along slowly, but um I'm getting there. I'm actually like getting very close to completing the set. So um and trying to start thinking about building decks around the different characters from from the Jurassic uh World franchise.
SPEAKER_03:So um yeah, no, it's it's it's a good time. In 2026, I'll get you into Lorcana.
SPEAKER_07:Nope. All the cool kids are playing Riftbound these days, Phil. I don't know if you um have checked that out.

SPEAKER_03:I did live five. Have you heard about like some of the well, because right now the TCG that's very popular, Eric will enjoy this, is One Piece. That's kind of the one that's like popping right now as far as resellers. Did you hear what happened? Do you know, do you know Coop's collection? Are you familiar with in on the Pokemon side? Yeah. Did you hear what happened to him?
SPEAKER_07:No, what happened to Coop?
SPEAKER_03:So Coop's collection, for those of you who don't know, he is this incredible um, he is a he's a vendor within the Pokemon space, really great, does a lot for kids. Um, very, very wholesome. He's a great, great, great person. Um, whatnot is a very popular avenue for people to buy and and resell cards. And uh what you can do on Whatnot for some of these uh auctioneers, you can buy like a pack of cards from the auctioneer, they will open it for you on camera, and then they'll send you that pack uh pack of cards. So he had purchased a pack of cards from this auctioneer, and this is actually kind of my thing that I'm sharing now instead. So he had bought this pack of cards from the auctioneer, and this there is a um kind of a gray, a holy grail of card opening. It's called a god pack, and essentially that god pack will show, you know, we'll have like every single rare card in that specific set. So he purchased a pack of cards from this reseller, from this whatnot auctioneer, they opened it, they turned it a little bit, and realized that he had pulled a god pack for this for Coop's collection, ended their stream, went off stream, came back like nothing happened, and just continued with their with their auction. And Coop, of course, never got the cards. If this had happened to just a normal person, no one would have given a shit. But it happened to maybe the most popular again Pokemon community member in the world. So this person is screwed. They are totally screwed. And um yeah, that is what uh that's the T that's happening right now.
SPEAKER_07:Yeah, and not just like popular, but known for being wholesome, an incredibly sweet person.
SPEAKER_06:Like this is gonna go to someone who would really appreciate it. It's like, no, screw this guy. Right.

SPEAKER_06:Um, I'm trying to think. I feel like 2025 was kind of in me like getting back into things. Um, I started playing Animal Crossing again in preparation of the new update next year. Um, I immediately I got on my island and uh one of one of lucky uh my little my little uh mummy dog was like, it's been three years and nine months since we saw you. And I was like, bro, you didn't need to tell me exactly how many days. Literally, I was like, you didn't need to tell me like to the day. I was like, bestie, don't don't do that. But um you had to clean the cockroaches out of your house. Oh my god, so many cockroaches, so many weeds. Everyone was like, it's been so long.
SPEAKER_05:And I was like, don't, don't, don't do that to me. I'm here now. Exactly. I think your god is here.
SPEAKER_06:Yeah, exactly. Don't worry, I'm fine. Um but yeah, I have I don't know, like been kind of just catching up on, you know, whatever's out there. Um, I was trying to think about movies that have come out this year. The only movies, like current movies I've seen are like every new horror movie that has come out this year. My husband has been excited about, so I've seen them. They're I don't know, they sure were movies. They, you know, there was nothing that really grabbed me. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03:Um it was a weird year for horror because again, horror is in like a really good place, but this year was like and I and I think Sinners is kind of like a um a little bit of a crossover, you know, it's kind of thriller, horror, and then uh, you know, of course, a lot of other things. But yeah, I've heard it was an interesting year for horror.
SPEAKER_06:Yeah, I it it's funny because like we finally like a lot of stuff that we had been waiting to watch last year finally came to streaming. So I finally saw Sinners, loved it. I finally saw the substance, loved it. It's so good. Um, it just a lot of you know older stuff that like I'm finally like didn't have to go to a theater to see, so I'm like, okay, it's here, let's go. Um I one thing that did specifically come out this year that I've was really excited about, um, there is a novel by Annalie Newitz. Um it's called Automatic Noodle. Um, I've started reading it, I haven't gotten super far, but I love their writing so much. Um basically it's after like a you know, world, like weird world war, um, a bunch of uh sentient, like sort of just like free to do whatever they want. Robots open up a noodle shop and are just trying to like coexist with it, you know, between humans and and robots and just sort of find that middle ground of like what you know what humanity is and like collaborating and stuff. It's just it's really cute and they do they do sci-fi so well, like without getting really crunchy, like they're so good at world building, but not like I'm not getting bogged down by like I need to know how this thing works, and I'm really confused and I don't like this. It's a lot of like this is the technology. I'm like, thank you. That's all I needed. So I I love their writing so much. So I was excited when they announced that they've had a new book coming out. So yeah, that's my big thing from this year specifically.

Everybody will get three picks and we will uh be drafting gifts, toys, whatever we would have have wanted to receive that we think would have led to like the best Christmas Day opening experience when it comes to presents. SPEAKER_07:Yeah, um, so I I went off camera here just so I can go grab it. Um I realized I saw it. Um this is one I think I got well I got I got I very vividly remember it for Christmas. This was some time in high school, so I really love um Jurassic Park the movie. Um but um had never read the book until I received this beautiful version of the novel that includes both, you know, both of the books by Michael Creighton. Um and um this for whatever reason, like peeling back the paper on this beautiful version of the book was incredible and one of my strongest Christmas memories. And before Phil went, just in case the off-chance he was gonna do something Jurassic Park related, I wanted to get there first. Um, and um, yeah, no, that that that version of Jurassic Park and The Lost World is my favorite. And a special unexpected shout out because I also didn't think about this before we started recording um or started streaming, um, but I wanted to shout out all of my friends here who helped. Put together this version of Jurassic Park. This was a birthday gift from my wife that she sent around this book, and made all of my friends made many additions to it, including this awesome piece here that says bracketologist by so um I just wanted to give a quick shout out to that version of Jurassic Park as well. Um that um my wife and all my friends put together for me for my birthday. So thank you all. Um but yeah, Jurassic Park the novel is my second pick.

Uh so I could so one again I like to I whenever my I would like ride my friend's bike with pegs on it, you know, you would like stand up on the pegs on the back of the bike and then just like go downhill or whatever. I never got one of these bikes, so this is gonna be my second pick. I always I was always riding around on like a lame mountain bike, and my friends had the cool bikes, and I wanted I wanted this one, not because I ever wanted to do BMX tricks, but just I wanted I wanted this style of bike specifically. I saw I saw a picture of one that um I remember that I saw a picture of one on eBay where it still had the stickers that had not been applied yet, where they were just on the sheet, and I was like, oh, those stickers are not good anymore. That's been 30 years. But I was like, does it make it better? No, absolutely not. I was like, no, 30-year-old stickers do not work, unfortunately. So, anyways, the other thing I was going to mention, uh, I think um Phil will also mention is just generally dinosaur toys. Um, just like like any any anything Jurassic Park, but I also had an unreasonable amount of dinosaur toys from the movie Dinosaur. That was that was something that I got a lot. Um, there are a lot of toys for that.

Just played it out loud, the tinniest, most horrible sound you've ever heard. Um, yeah, so my my honorable mentions, I had um, I had N64, um, specifically the Mario Kart and Super Mario N64 bundle. Um, we as as a as a family with three kids, um, something that was not just two player was very important to us as a household. So N64 was like by default, it was like you can have three players, you're getting this one. And we were like, okay, cool. Um, but Mario Kart, you can't be Mario Kart. It's so good. That's like the start there. It's good. Um I also had um the uh Barbie Magical Motor Home, which was actually a set that we had. It is like an RV that unfolds. It is the flimsiest plastic shenanigan. Yeah, it unfolds into a camper. It's the flimsiest plastic shenanigan. It's it's not great. Um we still have it. I think it's still in my mom's attic. Um because my daughter was gonna play with it and it broke. Yes, and we were like, it no, it's too fragile because it's from it's from the 80s. Um yeah, and then um the last thing that I had on my list as an honorable mention was uh Poochie, P-O-O-C-H-I. It's the little robot dog that did not do anything I said he was going to. Yeah. Yeah.

Um a lot of a lot of those toys where you like would push a button on the leg and it would do something, you know?

Um so um and then I think the like the the main like other one that I can think of, like, that's just coming to my mind is like the the one that I or the thing that I always still look for in a Christmas stocking is the little Snickers nutcracker. Like, as the like that's I need that to have a complete Christmas. So like that or like a Reese's tree. Like one of those two has to be.

So we would he would come over a lot, we would hang out, and then there's a gas station here that used to have Vault in their, you know, their their fountains, and they would sell 64 ounce cups of soda.

SPEAKER_03:And one time he came over and was like, hey, he just had two cups of 64 ounce soda. And we were awake for, I believe, like pretty much like 36 hours, like.

SPEAKER_03:Because he stayed over like the whole weekend and we were we could not fall asleep, and we were just awake the entire time.
SPEAKER_01:Um they soon took Vault out of that dispensary. He was related, but it it did happen very close, and then it was gone for the world.

SPEAKER_07:No, yeah, no. This draft is great. Um, it it came it came it came came together, and like, yeah, it was awesome. Like, literally, like as the ideas and picks came out, the like memories actually flowed out of my brain.

SPEAKER_07:So, yeah, that was very, very fun.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, it would be interesting to do this. I don't know that there would be I mean, I'm sure we can think of enough like good movies, like it to do like a Christmas movie, holiday movie draft, Christmas, you know, something like that. Song set like a playlist, something like that. You know, there's so much to do. That's why I really love this game. Like I said, we play it a lot.

We had a plan this year was this year to bring together thing. Yeah. Yeah. Um, it's called uh Sister Cinema Swap, where uh Kate and I are going to alternate per episode. Uh one of us watching a movie we have seen before, one of us being completely new to the movie. Uh no holds on genres, decade, how new it is, if it's a sequel, anything. It's really we just have a spreadsheet of what we have and haven't seen, basically what we haven't seen. And oh wow, yeah, that doesn't look very good right now, does it? Um look at us. But um look at us. We're so cute.

SPEAKER_05:And um yeah, it was it it was I was editing. We have four episodes literally recorded already. Um so it it is coming in the new year, I promise. SPEAKER_06:So this is actually one of my friends, um, Jenny Crowley, uh, of the stationary possums. Um bunch of my friends, we started doing art and stuff together. Um, and I love her visual style. And I was like, Can you draw little caricatures of me and Emily? And she's like, Ta-da. Um, she's also drawn. She's amazing. So good. She's so good. And then she was also like, I went rogue and I made some other things. So there are a couple like stuff. I want to make like stickers of them. They're little doodles of us as like you know, like, you know, like the let's go to the movies, like the the dancing concessions thing. It's us as like drinks, it's hot dogs and popcorn, and like a like a little soda cup. They're so cute. I'll have to show you guys. There's a VHS one, yeah. So cute. She she did such a good job. I love it so much.
SPEAKER_03:Um, super excited.
SPEAKER_06:I'm really excited, and it's it's fun because I Emily is not the only one who is new to things. I get to be the new kid too and not know things. Um, but also it means that we don't just have to talk to people who previously had just seen Game of Thrones. It means that we can have so many other people on anyone. Yes, you guys could be on our podcast now.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah. No, Emily and I were literally talking about that like earlier earlier in the year at some point. I was like, oh, I can be a guest.
SPEAKER_05:I know, I know. Yeah, we have like a whole list of like everyone that should be on podcasting.
SPEAKER_03:Not Dylan, he's not a podcaster, so we love Dylan.
SPEAKER_05:Dylan was on all the time. Dylan is like, we have plenty of non-podcasters on the list too.

SPEAKER_02:Um, but no, so I'll so like Phil was saying, uh, if you're interested in hearing some of what we had talked about, or like the podcast that Andrew and I used to be on. Um, we did a project called Your Friendly Neighborhood Gamers. Um, and so just due to life stuff like me moving and him having another kid, uh that has been placed on an indefinite hiatus for now. Um, so I will shout out though, his uh he has a YouTube channel um called Loyal Undead, where he talks like one of the things that we talked about a lot on our podcast was um like from Software's line of games, Dark Souls, Elden Ring, all of those. And so um he is doing like a channel where he talks about like games in that style. So he's got a lot of awesome videos over there. Um he has ones about like which games are best for beginners, he has ones on like games similar to uh Dark Souls like Liza P. And so definitely go out there and check that out. Um, I watch them all the time. Um so uh but if you're if you've been missing having us talk at you on a weekly basis, uh Andrew is still out there able to do stuff uh a little bit more frequently than I have managed to be able to do. Um and so and I'm not writing off the the chance that we may come out of hiatus for a brief time to uh talk about how Eric just completely trashed all of us in the uh the fantasy critic league.
SPEAKER_01:So speaking of which is there any life in that for next year? Uh there could be.
SPEAKER_05:There you can take my spot, I quit. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01:Phil's really invited. I'm fucking telling you. I'm still I will say if you and I'll throw out I'll throw it out very soon. Uh, but if you guys want to do it casually, like we'll do it like this again where we'll host it, maybe stream it. I'll edit it, and and again, it can be like a Patreon thing for us. If you guys want to use it for the YouTube, you can, but if not, like there's no pressure. And really, once the first part is done, the rest of the year, it's like it's like having a draft like for uh fantasy football. Like you're just watching it throughout the year. So, like, unless we decide to do a mid-year check-in or something like that, it's really just a one-time commitment as far as the recording goes, and I think we could do that. I like it. Yeah, I like it. It seems cool.
SPEAKER_02:He says that this year as he is like ahead of the nearest blast.
SPEAKER_01:You know, finally coming out has really, really done me some good here. I like popping up, Eric.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah. I counterpicked like the one of the highest scoring games of the year, and then that after that I was done. I was like, that's it for me. I literally muted the channel. I muted the like the not not friendly neighborhood gamers, but just the fantasy critic league specifically. I muted. Yeah. Uh another fucking gift from Stefan. I don't want to see it. Anyway. Yeah.
